It's a hamlet within the Town of North Castle. There is no such thing as the Town of Armonk.
    Be Safe.

I think you need to reread our Instagram. We utilize social media to keep the community we serve in the know and update it accordingly. We've never made any mention the engine was in service. Thanks

Engine 198 is in service? That's weird, nobody told me. I am only the Co-Chairman of the truck committee.

The situation that Port Chester is dealing with will have no effect on their use of mutual aid. Your statement is true with most staffing issues, but I do see it for this one.

No, not at all! I'm unsure where your getting your information from. We are still completing driver training and familiarization. We hope to have it in service shortly.

LOL at Res24cue. You keep proving me wrong that people can't be any dumber.
Law Enforcement Officers are the only thing that keeps order and prevents chaos in our country, regardless of what politicians, media and other groups try to feed us. The most important thing for all of us to do is to avoid sipping the Kool Aid that is fed to us making us think that LEOs are the enemy.
The enemy is ourselves and our thought process that we can be and are above the law. If we eliminate the laws that govern us and protect us, I will gladly pick up my family and move somewhere that has them, enforces them and protects my family.
I hate how our country is going down the toilet, and how so many people try to justify their illegal actions.

    1. There is NOTHING wrong with any publicity that puts your department in a positive light. It can help gain members, gain support from the community and - for those that depend on it - possibly garner donations.
    2. 60 Control is the Communications Division of the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services. We (60 Control) are not the instructors providing the training mentioned.
    3. From what I have seen over time as a Training Officer / Chief Officer with the WCFTC is that you occasionally have a bad apple in the bunch, and once people bring this to light, they are cut loose. I feel that the current staff of instructors is professional and courteous based on my most recent drills / classes I have taken as a member of my FD.
    4. Pubic... HAHAHA.
    5. Am I the only one that often wishes "Res24cue" would just go away with his crying and whining?

  19. Mini-Attack9 liked a post in a topic by Remember585 in Brotherhood in the Fire Service
The brotherhood is still there. However social media outlets where guys can go and cry about mundane immature stuff that should be kept in house and worked out has ruined a lot of it.
And - no disrespect to this website - places like this where everyone climbs on to their high horses and points fingers PUBLICLY instead of manning up and shooting a brother a private message, calling them or dropping in to their firehouse to talk to them man to man has ruined a lot of what we all used to know.
I appreciate the things I have learned here and on other websites. I have made great friends and taken what I picked up here and put it to good use. However, there has been more drama for me and my department because of sites like this, Facebook and Myspace when it was still around. I have been accused of doing things I didn't. My department and members of it have been falsely or inaccurately implicated in things they didn't do. Friendships and professional relationships with neighboring departments have been tested, strained or ruined when someone sees/hears something and reacts to it before knowing the facts.
We live in the information age. Everyone can hide behind a keyboard and be an expert on everything. They can call someone out for something with little to no facts, denouncing them to their easily impressionable audience.
Let this be a lesson to all of you up and coming members of the fire service - WORK YOUR PROBLEMS OUT WITHIN THE CONFINES OF YOUR FIREHOUSE! If you can't say something to someone face to face, DON'T SAY IT!
And to be "politically correct," we're not a brotherhood anymore. Many females have joined our ranks and proven to be exceptional parts of our department families. I like to say that the fire department is a family, and like the families we've been born into, we don't always agree, we don't even always like each other, but at the end of the day - we are (or should be) there for one another when the chips are down.
    I'm done. Thanks for listening.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am not always liked, and often say things that offend people. It comes with a deep sense of pride in what I do and the department I am proud to be a part of. But, at the end of the day, I can sleep knowing I do what is best for my people and what's in the best interest of keeping our department going strong for years to come.
  20. Mini-Attack9 liked a post in a topic by xchief2x in Should Westchester Bring Back The "Quint" Radio Designator?
In my opinion NO! There is also no need to have a ladder and tower ladder designation either, a Good Chief will know what resources they have available to them from their mutual aid departments. This is of course MY OERSONAL OPINION.

  22. Mini-Attack9 liked a post in a topic by Remember585 in Chief's Vehicle Out Of State Shopping
Would you look past this if that Chief's vehicle was delivering donations to Newtown? What if he was buying gifts to bring to a Children's Hospital here in Westchester? This is such immature, cry baby bullshit.
For the record, I don't agree with the abuse of a take home car, but since nobody knows the facts here - let's stop speculating.
FACT: Some municipalities issue take-home vehicles for all kinds of staff members, including PD, FD, DPW and management folks.
FACT: Many of these municipalities don't have rules or regulations concerning the uses of these vehicles, and frankly don't even care.
FACT: A Westchester Fire Chief in Connecticut may be closer from point A in Westchester to point B in Connecticut then if he went to another location within Westchester County.
FACT: I see police officers, fire chiefs/commissioners, EMS officers, DPW bosses and governement officials using their take home cars for all kinds of things.
FACT: I never lose sleep over any of this. Neither should any of us. The same guys who are union firefighters that will come here asking all of us to "put aside our volunteer and paid BS" to help them keep their jobs also commonly take jabs at volunteers for dumb s*** like this. You can't play it one way all the time then flip it around and not expect people to call you out on it. Does it bother anyone else that WE are all our own worst enemies?!
Does it bother anyone else that Westchester County is literally a laughingstock to fire departments (paid and volunteer) outside of this area because of our never-ending bickering and dick-measuring contests?
    Ugh!
Note: edited for grammar and layout improvement.

" X4093k" The old car 2031 Suburban was sold to a local bus company a couple of weeks ago. "WHarley3" Yes that is a Bailout window. Before the building construction members constructed a bailout window inside the fire house. Story here http://www.bedfordhillsfd.org/apps/public/news/newsView.cfm?News_ID=176. With the new construction the window was removed and then reinstalled with some modifications to it. We just finished out our yearly recertification with AAA Emergency Supply, but will be using the window for bailout as well as other trainings in the near future.

Our department has a few dual responses / automatic aids in place for certain areas / certain call types.
For Water Rescue incidents in the Croton River, we're dispatched along with the Yorktown FD Water Rescue Team.
For incidents on the Hudson River, we get dispatched along with another Marine unit & WCPD (if in the water).
For possible structure fires in our non-hydrant areas, two Mutual Aid Tankers are dispatched initially with us.
For possible Haz-Mat incidents, the Montrose VAFD Haz-Mat team is dispatched along with our assignment.
Not to get all soap-boxy - but departments that aren't using 60 Control and taking advantage of it's CAD system to set up special responses / pre-plans are truly missing out.
