  2. I believe there are two different siren patterns for the FD and VAC.
  3. Interesting idea...but not so good if your in a rush to be somewhere.
  4. I agree that lines need to be redrawn. My EMS agency often responds to calls on the NYS thruway. In order to access the southbound lane, we have to drive for about 10 minutes to the nearest entrance. Meanwhile, another agency's headquarters is 2 minutes from the same entrance.
  5. I too agree that EMTs are grossly underpaid. My nephew works as a lifeguard making over $12/hour. The training for a lifeguard is far less than that of an EMT and the job also is considerably easier.
  6. I've skied a bunch of times at Belleayre in Highmount, NY. Its just about an two and a half hours from Westchester and great for a day trip. Lift tickets are pretty reasonable as well.
  7. There shouldn't be any charge if you have had it for less than 1 year.
  8. Based on this, only a volunteer fire fighter's POV and the back of a police vehicle may display blue lights. So yes, it would be illegal for an ambulance to display a blue light.
  9. So much for a June or July completion.
  10. I imagine that you are not charged if the ambulance repsonds to anywhere in Wappingers, reguardless of where you live.
  11. I recieved a coupon from Mavis for $59.99 Wagner QuickStop Break Pads and I'm a bit hessitant to try them. Can anyone attest to the quality of these pads? Can anyone attest to Mavis's quality of work/honesty?
  12. Thanks for the help guys!
  13. How could you know that it was a transport?
  14. Could it be related to the US civil defense which was active during the cold war? I believe I've seen the Civil defense logo on a bus at the Greenburgh water and communications building.
  15. This was previously discussed here: http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=15081
  16. In NY it is possible to used red lights and sirens on a POV provided that the driver is an emt and carries a certain amount of equipment. The health dept policy on this can be found here: http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/ems/policy/01-01.htm
  17. Cant explain it better than Wikipedia can: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS
  18. If anyone's interested the nearest Kwik-e-mart is 345 W. 42nd Street in Manhattan.
  19. If I were to call 911 from my land line for EMS, who answers the call and how does it reach 60 control or a local PD dispatcher?
  20. We find out when we call in a patient notification. Could definitely use a better method.
  21. Would anyone be able to provide details on how the parking system works at the City Center in White Plains? I've searched the web but couldn't come up with anything.
  22. I meant, how does the technical aspect of it work.
  23. I've been meaning to make a comment. I really like the new banner. Looks much better than the old one.
