  1. Call the Police and report it as harassment. The man has the right to work in a harassment free workplace. If the person(s) that did this is caught, he should be fired.
  2. Why were the firefighters not protecting their faces while popping glass, popping open doors and using the jaws of life? It would be quite embarrassing if any of them suffered a facial or eye injury during a public demonstration. Not professional at all.
  3. So does this car get summonsed for an overtime meter AND fire hydrant violation?
  4. Nice ride!
  5. Henry's family should be PAYING the Police Officer $120 million, not suing for it. There son attempted to murder Police Officers and placed other innocent persons in grave danger by attempting to run over the Police Officers while driving drunk. The Henry family should be hanging their heads in shame and owe the Police Officers an apology for the criminal actions of their son.
  6. Police Officer Aaron Hess is a hero and saved lives the night that Criminal Danroy Henry attempted to run over Police Officers and may have killed civilians in the process. Its very simple: 1) PO Hess = good guy. 2) Criminal Henry = bad guy. Any questions?
  7. Excellent that the family members and friends of the patients will have a place to ride in the rig rather be in back during patient care and possible exposure to BBP or ABP.
  8. I have to agree strongly with this post. I have seen this type of unprofessional behavior before. Especially the multiple tone outs for the "Non" hot jobs. Its actually disgraceful that some EMT's would be selective as to who they will respond to and who they will not respond to. No integrity.
  9. I also remember this day. I was teaching a firearms class at the Police Academy when this incident took place. I also remember attending the funeral with other members of my Police Department. After this incident, The Westchester County Police and the Yonkers Police obtained armored vehicles for future major incidents.
  10. Abandonment, Lawsuit, Morals, A duty to act. "If they did not have gloves would you really expect them to touch the patient and perform cpr or any other assessment?" YES! Perhaps, you should consider another line of work. Something where you don't have to touch people.
  11. If these 2 EMT's (or Paramedics) were on duty, in uniform, and left the scene without treating the patient or transferring care to the approiate medical authority then they are guilty of abandonment. They should be fired, banned from ever working in EMS again, sued and the district attorney should review the case for possible criminal charges. Even if they didn't have any medical gear they could have monitored/opened the airway prn, CPR prn, called for an ambulance, updated dispatch as to the patient's status to expedite the ambulance crew, etc.
  12. Excellant training video. I learned a lot. Thank you. Paul Aiello

  14. The patient compartment looks way too small. For als you need a box not a van. I also prefer the med bags over the med boxes.
  15. Its basically a Bee Line bus. Westchester Medical Center should make up one of these busses and use it as a MERV like in NYC. Staff it with ER nurses & docs that would be subject to a page in MCI's. Use it to treat patients on scene.
  16. From the video...It didn't look like the Medic did anything wrong. The Troopers should be disaplined and retrained. They should have found out why the driver was unable to yield to the Troop car. I would also like to know how long the delay was because the ambulance was unable to yield immediately....2 or 3 seconds???
  17. Tarrytown VAC will be looking to replace me soon as I am moving to Florida. Per-diem's work 7 AM - 7 PM Monday thru Friday. Send resume to Tarrytown Ambulance PO Box 132 Tarrytown, NY 10591 Must be an EMT with 911 experience, valid driver's license, Be able to work well with the volunteers.
  18. Do ya' think there were enough explosions on the trailer?
  19. That said, being an EMT is an entry level position. It's a very basic course, granted we can do some cool stuff and occasionally save a life. It's my belief that EMT is too basic in nature - i've always felt that EMT-I should be the B equivalent. It would raise the bar and weed out those who really don't belong. I agree with Goose..... EMT Basic is way too basic and bringing the "Basic" up to the "Intermediate" level would be a great thing. Unfortunatly, due to politics, the marginal EMT B's will most likely continue on in EMS. As far as the EMT's relying too much on the Medics, its true. A lot of EMT's will watch the medic and wait for his instruction or do nothing. Also, EMT's should be able to handle critical, unstable or potentially unstable patients if the Medic is not yet on the scene instead of screaming on the radio to expedite the Medic. They should consider transport asap if there is no Medic present.
  20. The story refers to a Brooklyn incident but I thought the original story occurred in Manhattan....Can someone please clear up the confusion? Thanks.
  21. Does anyone know if it was a FDNY ambulance or a private hospital ambulance? If so, what hospital ambulance service was it?
