  7. Well said lfdR1....I said it before ill say it agian all ya need is a recycled police car with a red stripe a dept patch on the door.Another point ya cant put out a fire with a chiefs car.

  9. Last nite while i had the scanner on about 11pm the Village of Mamaroneck police were dispatched for wires down in turn the FD was also dispatched. 2 calls were put into Con Ed by PD and 60 Control both got the answer no eta. About 45 minutes later 2 more calls were put in agian by PD and 60 Control the answer they got was a hour and a half eta. To me it seemed like a quiet nite no stroms no big fire calls where Con Ed would be tied up. I would of put barricades and yellow tape i dont know what time Con Ed finally showed up i went to bed unlike the poor guys sitting on the call for who knows how long then they had to get up to go to their jobs today. Ive been on calls where we had wires down burning in the street and taped it off and left after waiting hours for Con Ed. I think its time Con Ed took a look at there responce time and for local depts. to start billing them for there time on scene waiting
  10. Red Lights i dont think is a good idea thats the last thing you need it a Con Ed trucks flying around with red lights. I think more staffing during storms we all pay enough in bills
  11. The Village of Pelham FD is looking into and talking with the FDNY to buy a 1990 something Seagrave Engine. The engine will replace the current Eng 5 which is a 1978 Seagrave. This wont be the 1st time that Pelham bought a FDNY engine in the early 90's they bought a 1978 Mack ex Eng 290 that replaced the old Eng 5 which at the time was a 1956? ALF. They got 6-7 good years out of the Mack then when the new Eng 4 arivved in 1997 the Mack was donated to WCFC for training. Eng 5 is the 2nd due engine and the eng that Pelham takes out of town for mutial aid .I heard this might happen by the end of the summer or early fall about the time that the New Ladder 2 comes in.

  17. All a chief needs is a old police car recycled and painted with the Dept colors . Maybe im wrong but i think its a waste all theses and everything. Rememeber a chiefs car doesnt put out a fire,.....
  18. Welcome to the danger zone....Its the song from Top Gun cant remember who sings it....
  19. The way i see it they have been talking about a merger for the last 20 years and im sure 20 years before that. The way the shared responses are going now id say if it anit broke dont fix it. The shared responses work great with both the paid and voulnteers. Ive heard all the stories over the years, Pelham becoming part of Eastchester or New Rochelle or even part of the Yonkers FD.The Pelham FD has been there for over 100 years and im sure 100 years from now it'll still be the Pelham FD
  20. I HONESTLY FEEL THAT THE APRONS NEED NOT TO BE DONE ASAP. WHATS THE SENCE TO RUSHING TO DO A FIREHOUSE WITH THE ROADS THAT ARE SNOW COVERED. WHATS MORE IMPORTANT A HILL OR MAIN ROAD THAT A RIG HAS TO DRIVE THROUGH IN TRAFFIC OR A 5 FOOT PIECE OF APRON .ID RATHER HAVE A CLEAN STREET
  21. Village of Pelham engine 6. Up until 1998 is was one of the oldest rigs still in service in New York State. Its a 1925 American La France chain driven on 1 wheel. Through the years parts were harder to find and cost big bucks so for the most part Engine 6 has been sitting in quarters and hasnt made many parades over the last few years
