  1. How does this corps run are they paged out or dispatched. I dont really understand how you can have two paid people respond when no crew is availble...this will just lead to an extra extended arrival time. Mike
  2. Public Place must transport cant terminate onscn. Mike
  3. Well I guess you have to do CPR... and rapid infusion NS in addition to acls meds
  4. Obviously follow protocol secure airway etc, put him on monitor and hope defib works gains a pulse back so compressions wont be necessary?
  5. Nice find x635 Mike
  6. WAS is right, I have an HP842C color printer at least 5 years old it will print color photos just fine...only problem is that they will fade quickly and if they get a spot of rain on them there done....If you take your photo stick or watever storage media you have to a photoshop they can print them just like a standard film photo. Mike
  7. If you send your courese announcment to Westchester DES they usually post them @ there facility in Valhalla as well as sending out a blanket email of the course offering Mike
  8. Just wondering...with all of this talk about nursing homes and the strain they put onto the various EMS systems, especially the vol. corps, are there any polices wether State or otherwise that require nursing home or adult care facilities to have a private ambulance contract for stanby or routine transport. I have noticed that there are soma facilities that will call 911 a few times a day for routine transport to the hospital for "a check up". Mike
  9. I would imagine that the facility never sees the bill. When revenue recovery forms are filled out they go straight to the patient, right? Can an agency actually bill a nursing home for non emergent requests? How about religious homes are they exempt from certain rules? Mike
  10. Does OLM itself still run 911 busses in the bx? Mike
  11. How about FDs dealing with EMS. I have been under the impression that many, ( at least in central Westchester ) dont want to deal with EMS transports because they cant bill to recover revenue, however many will always want to be dispatched as to increase their call colume, therby increasing funding. Mike
  12. Just curious what is a CFI, SFI? Mike
  13. WAS I agree with you on many points that is why I take a ton of photos with my digital camera. When my son was born everybody I knew had a photo emailed to them that day. I take "fun photos" with my digital...things at work, baby and dog doing silly things etc. I have a Nikon N90 that I use for family shots and when I want to be creative. One suggestion I do have for anybody interested in purchasing a new SLR weather traditional or digital dont cheap out with generic lenses. I did and they just dont fit right. Mike
  14. Film is forever, you can always go back and make prints from old negatives that you find. With technology changing so fast I doubt we will be able to reproduce archived digital photos. Anybody able to get the data from any old 5" floppy disks, probably not. Im afraid all the digital photos saved to disk will be lost when CD drives, memory sticks, etc. are obsolete. Mike
  15. Actually there is a law on the books pertaining to assulting EMS or Firefighters as well as obstructing / preventing there work. Mike
  16. Just wondering what the standard uniform is for all of your agencies. Shirt type & color - winter/summer Pants type BDU, Plain etc Jacket / Permitted outermost garments type & color Thanks Mike
  17. BDU Shorts? I have seen it before but I personally feel that long pants help to protect us from both splatter of bodily fluids and car fluids at MVA. How do you feel about the light blue shirts , are they impracticle because they show dirt more than nave? Mike
  18. ALS...sorry i was refering to the previous post "DWI" = "deal with it". The people who call 911 for a stubbed toe. Mike
  19. You are correct with the abuse of the system. Unfortantlly while an ALS unit is trasnporting a "DWI/TAC" to the ED, somebody may really have a medical emergency where ALS intervention can make a difference. On more than one occasion I have responded to a different jurisdiction because their hometown unit was tied up on nonsence. I usually get the commet why are you here from ***EMS and what took so long? Mike
  20. When ranked what is the lowest ## anybody know how many people took the test? Mike
  21. I have a fuji Fine pix...The LCD screen crashed...I sent it back to fuji and they fixed it no questions asked...turn around time was about three weeks. Its probably safe to say that it would be cheaper to buy a new camera rather than bring it to a "repair shop". Mike
  22. Greenvilles Lab retired a few years ago, they now have a German Shepard being cared for by the same handler. Mike
  23. One thing tha I found out is that 60 control keeps a list of people on home O2 or other life support that requires electricity. They (60) would call local departments and have them check on the welfare of the people who are registered with them. The big problem is that the list was very out of date. It kind of ruins somebodies day when you show up to check on "John Smith" and the family says he passed away over a year ago. Mike
  24. Just by looking at the new skyline...I would say that the new "City Center" in White Plains on Main St and Mamaroneck Ave is the tallest building in lower West...you can see its unique outline from most high points in the W.P. area. Mike
  25. Why dont you make it like a game for the junior corps.Right each item on your ambulances inventory on a card. Have them pick a card from a hat and time who can retrieve or set up the equipment correctly and safely the quickest... Mike
