Who is doing traffic when the cops need to roll to assist some where else? It's one hand washing the other I still say good job by all, people over think sometimes and forget we're there to get the same job done.

Topics like this and how they play out is why people do not want to post or sick around here. It's simple you use what you have when you have it pictures only show what's in the view finder. What would you say if this picture showed those troopers protecting an exposure? Yes there's rules for everything now a days is there really a reason to beat a dead horse some things are not ideal but that's life deal with it. Great job by the troopers and IC for using what he had. Oh and the troopers had their waist strap on .

While that is true, I have the Motorola Droid 2 and my battery charges from 30% to 100% in less than three hours and a replacement battery is under 5 dollars on Amazon.com.
While I am a huge fan of the Android operating system, I am just waiting for the day I get an iPhone, who actually needs their phone to make phone calls.

    Members,
I've revised the Incident Alert template. I've tried to streamline it by taking out the unecessary parts and reorganized the order to make it quicker and easier to write and quicker and easier to read.
    Here is an example:
    Date: 1-1-12
    Time: 0200
Location: Sprain Brook Parkway SB north of Jackson Ave
Units Operaing: Greenville Squad 15, Fairview Rescue 3, Greenburgh PD EMS
Description Of Incident: 1 vehicle rollover with ejection and pin
    Reporter: x635

It is a tragic situation agreed there is a slight chance that what the public dose seals the fate of the fires we are trained to combat. I believe instead of faulting the public for not knowing we as firefighters need to educate and get it out there to leave things to the trained people. Personally besides the public lots of times I believe law enforcement needs the education also so the instinct to help dose not hinder the job that needs to be done. But no matter what I do not believe faulting them is not the answer educating them is what needs to be done.

Sometimes, and it may just be once in a career, emergency workers are confronted with a situation that isn't "in the book" so they can't "go by the book". Officer Peck wasn't under the bus as a "rescue technician", he was under the bus as a HUMAN BEING giving comfort and support to another injured and frightened woman.
When the crane toppled and pinned Bridget Gurney in NYC, there was a monster response and the FD/PD/MD did the same thing Officer Peck did. They put their lives at risk to save her. If I recall correctly there were no guarantees that they wouldn't be killed or injured in a secondary collapse. We've all heard stories like it and it is one of the most compelling characteristics about our profession. In the face of obvious, and sometimes not so obvious, danger, we do something compassionate and caring for a total stranger.
Hopefully the first arriving rescue units insured that the bus was off, in park, wheels chocked and placed cribbing to protect them both.
I don't commend Officer Peck as a rescue technician and I'm glad the FD arrived promptly to extricate the victim; I commend him for doing something selfless and compassionate. We're reminded daily of all the negative things people in our profession do. This is a nice reminder about the positive things.

While I think the "get the job done first, safety second" statement is absolutely ludicrous, I think what's even more ludicrous is how individuals on here have to nitpick this officers actions as if he did something so egregiously dangerous, instead of applauding him for his actions on a job well done.

Last weekend after I got married we got to leave to go to York beach Maine for a nice honeymoon. I was able to sneak in a few shots of fire houses and some apparatus. York beach fire house is right behind the hotel I stayed in so I was able to snag the most shots since I was there on other business I didn't get a chance to talk to anyone and get some real info but I figured I'd share a few shots.

Here is a few other cool shots I was able to get the one house was designed to look like a old school train. One pic of just the concrete foundation there was a 2 story single family house on it until a winter storm in 1978 swept it into the sea. A lot of the houses along the coast had a storm shutter system almost like roll up doors over the windows.
