  1. Being a trucky i would have to go with ladder...if you have the staffing. It makes it alot essier to preform S&R, Vent, and Locate the fire when the truck is there first and can size up the fire for the engine. BUT if you are a volunteer department with limited members you need the water on the fire so the engine will need to roll first. I think it all comes down the the number of people you have on the call, if you have two engines pulling up at the same time then one can preform truck company operations untill the truck arrives. All in all you need water on the fire a soon as possible, if that means running the engine first because of staffing concerns then do it.
  2. HFD211 i agree with you. As my instructor said when i took esentials, "this class gives you the certification to be a interior firefighter, it doesn't mean you are ready/able to be one. You will learn more from you department trainings, going out on calls, and other members then from this class."
  3. WAS967- there was a LODD in Brewster in 1997. Don't remember the whole story but i think that they had a fire in a basement and one of the members airpacks ran low on air and when they escorted him to the stairs he fell off and got lost. After units pulled pulled out they found him missing and they sent the FASTeam in. I don't know if it was called a FASTeam and i don't know the rest of the details, maybe someone elsecould fill in the blanks.
  4. large fully involved barn fire on arival. multiple handlines and deck guns were used to knock down fire and to protect exposure which was about 10 feet from the barn. TL-57 was set up and knocked down the bulk of the fire useing the deck guns. All BHFD units operating w/ multiple tankers to the fire. Ossining with a engine and Plesentville with a ladder to cover.
  5. I think it was the correct move to take the pics offline because i feel if you left them up many people would be second guessing the driver or become "back-seat drivers"
  6. just a question in most of the pics it looks like Yonkers uses 3 inch supply line, but in some of the last ones they are useing 5 inch. Whats the deal, do some rigs only 3 inch and when do they use 5 inch opposed to 3 inch
  7. SHELL, in Cross River is $1.99 for Unleaded

  9. Task Force 7, Westchester County is the heart of the Yankees following, i think that you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would admit to being a Red Sox's fan, at least openly. Go Yankees
  10. Tower Ladder all the way! I would much rather make a rescue and put them in the bucket then carry them down. I also think that it is easier to run master stream operations from a bucket.
  11. Bedford Hills responed to the scene w/ TL57 and Rescue 10 and Engine 198 stood by in quarters.
  12. What was the deal with the fight?
  13. UPDATE- 1 FF died while conducting Search and Rescue operations when he was seperated from his crew and collapsed. The firefighter was 30-year-old Thomas Brick from Ladder 36 who was on the job for 2 years. He was in the first graduating class after the September 11 attack.
  14. How about a shovel in the winter to get to the hydrents
  15. While units were enroute they were advised of a confirmed extrication of the driver. The car was cribbed and a combi tool was used to pop the drivers door and extricate the driver. In addition crews helped with traffic control and cutting the battery.
  16. Minitor II is the way to go. Even though it doesn't have the vibrate option i have never missed a call because it didn't go off.
