  1. It seems like some of the questions raised about the fire can be answered by the article written on the South Salem Fire Departments website... Twin Lakes Fire
  2. From cnn.com, check out the video Historic Memphis church burns, sparks other fires MEMPHIS, Tennessee (AP) -- Fire swept through a historic downtown church early Friday, collapsing its steeple and flicking off embers that set fire to two other buildings, one of them 22 stories tall. No injuries were immediately reported. The First United Methodist Church, built in 1893, was largely destroyed. Its roof caved in, the steeple toppled, and some of the walls crumbled onto the streets. The flames then spread to two other buildings about three blocks from the church, including the Lincoln American Tower, once the tallest building in Memphis. (Watch how firefighters attacked Memphis blazes -- 1:58) A developer was renovating one of the buildings into condominiums. The Rev. Martha Wagley, pastor of the church, said members of her congregation gathered on the sidewalks as the building burned, crying and hugging and telling stories of who was "married and buried" in the building and things that had happened in worship services. Wagley said her church is a "seven day a week" church with a food pantry and other ministries to people downtown. "The building is lost, but not the church," Wagley said. Kisco accident post so i was just wondering.

  24. Just an offshoot from the post in incident workshop section about katonah fire. I was wondering what other departments SOP were for tower ladder operations. both for venting and master stream ops. two in the bucket for masterstreams, three in the bucket? also what is the SOP for venting, rescues, etc... In my department we don't have any written SOP's that i know of but we usauly run two in the bucket for master stream, one flying and one working the master stream. venting we usauly send two or three with tools; one to cut, one to be his back up, and sometimes a third for other tasks, ie second cut, pokeing through sheetrock after the cut is made, or just staying in the bucket to fly it. i don't know the SOP for rescues but i imagine two, one flying, one makeing the rescues, because that leaves space for the victoms.
