  1. T minus 4 hours!!!!!!!!!
  2. I like the snap and hook because it will never get stuck and it doesn't too much harder than the zipper and velcro. The snap and hook wont fail to come off either but i know people whose zippers have come off. what a drag!
  3. The best is when some departments tell you to only wear an SCBA when you're fighting a house fire. Apparently some people aren't grasping the concept that it should be worn at all fires including car fires, dumpster fires, or any other fire. These days fighting a car fire can be worse for your lungs than fighting a house fire! By the way...where the hell is the hose line????????
  4. To the best of my knowledge... I didn't think family members were allowed to ride in the back of an ambulance while transporting the patient. Anyone know anymore on this?
  5. If i've ever noticed anything.. The motorcycle accidents i have worked have all been dumba** bikers speeding or driving intoxicated not to mention all the jerkoffs that have weaved between myself and another car and have almost crashed!!!
  6. Unfortuntely Alpha is right and the person delivering mail has the right of way over anybody, including emergency vehicles i.e. fire trucks and police officials. Ain't that funny!
  7. I signed up for the test online and it did not indicate anywhere where you apply to the four towns or cities of your choice. Anybody know if they send you paper work for this? If so can somebody give me a little help Thanks, Dave
  8. Bravo HFD... Right on the money. It should not be any different if you're a volunteer! Firefighting is all about safety and following guidelines and standards which are obviously set for a reason! If you want a beard that badly, don't hop on the fire truck and put other lives in jeopardy because you lost a seal and ran out of air! And people wonder why we still lose firemen in training evolutions
  9. While a smooth bore nozzle on an inch and 3/4 is great for maneuverability and enables you to knock down some descently advanced fire, you will not be able to knock down a fire such as Hudson was talking about without a 2 1/2 because of the excellent penetration and force of a 2 1/2 especially with a smooth bore nozzle on it
  10. While on the topic of proper hose size in a high-rise fire... While 2 1/2 is a lot of work to advance and use properly, i would much rather get up to the upper floor with a handline which will produce enough water then have to make my way all the way back down. You're dispatched on a call for smoke from an upper floor... You pull up with fire blowing out of one window; maybe 3 to 5 minutes into the call depending... you get up to the fire floor with your equipment, hook up to the standpipe with 1 3/4, flake your hose, pop the stairwell door to find out that the door was left open to the fire apt. ... The fire ball is torching down the corridor and you need bigger hose... a few more minutes... YOUR IN BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!
  11. WHere would i sign up for a CPAT test?
  12. My prayers and condolences as well, go out to the family and friends as well as brother and sister firefighters of Bill Malone. Definately sounds like he was a great person and a great firefighter. He will be missed!
  13. What are the odds of getting on the job if you do not have residency? and are there any requirements?

  17. The Traditional White over red with chrome wheels is my favorite
  18. That is true. I believe the aerial on L43 is out of service but the truck still runs as well as the equipment. I think they're still running it if the equipment is needed.
  19. Im there!, need to finish that class up
  20. I was at one accident where a kid hit a rock face going about 100 mph, got ejected and when we pulled up you could see all the tire tracks through the fluids on the ground of about 20 cars who drove right through and didn't stop... Nice people huh!
