  2. Anyone have any pics of south salems station?
  3. JBE, Why those two words? Does a 10-60 make you hate your job because it means lots of movement?
  4. Guys, If your on the towns and villages list and didnt take the Mt. Vernon or White Plains test the best advice is to take your time. You have approx. 5 minutes to complete every station. The only ones that take more than a minute or so were the ladder climb and the stairs. I finished both in about 3 minutes. If your on the Mt. Vernon and White Plains list start getting in shape and working out big time. I suggest cardiac because there really isnt much heavy lifting going, you just need to be able to get through it as fast as you can. Good luck to all.
  5. The tower is in Station 3 on Third Street while the Mack is most likely down at station 2 on Fulton Ave. Also look for the new Seagrave Tower at station 3.
  6. Ahhh, finally something familiar, I think Im beginning to come around, not completely sold, but getting there. Thank you Mr. Bravo.
  7. EClemente, Know someone down there, great patch.
  8. I cant say Im for the change, I find it very hard to figure out what Ive read already. Topics that have new posts arent moved up to the top, making me scroll down to locate them. Im sure I will get used to it eventually, who am I to complain it isnt my site so I guess Ill just have to stick it out.
  9. Im not a big fan at the moment, maybe later.
  10. Interesting Article from Indiana: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...nId=46&id=43531 Wonder how well it will hold up here.
  11. IMO, the EMT's coming out of a lot of these classes really isnt all that prepared for some of the things they are going to encounter. I see people having trouble taking simple vital signs and doing basics like applying oxygen and splinting and we want to give them more toys to play with. Sure Id like to see EMT's doing more, but maybe we should either make the class a little longer or do something, patient care should be getting better and it sure doesnt look like thats the case to me.
  12. Wolf, I have to agree with you there. Maybe they should focus more on firehouse life and show how many alarms they actually go on instead of just fires. Make it a real reality show, show everyone that works in the house, as well as those who end up there detailed, etc. Its supposed to be about reality, then show everyone that, that fires are a very small part of what we actually do.
  13. Non taken, clarified for the rest of them.
  14. EMS-Buff There is nothing wrong with the Eastchester Fire Dept. It has to do with the "Yuppy Bronxville" people. Basically some bronxville people think that because they have money their s*** dont stink, and they dont like the fact that something says Eastchester is out front of their home instead of something that says Bronxville.
  15. JBE The city is going to let volunteers provide mutual aid in the city? That would be very interesting.
  16. Ahh the memories of Maureen and those trips on friday afternoon when school got out. Cam, dont you miss those days?
  17. 57 truck, what kind of campus is it?
  18. Truck6018 brings up a good point. All these homeowners care about is paying the least amount of money while still having their nice big home. Another good point is that these town boards need to realize that they let homeowners have nice windy driveways that cant fit the apparatus of today. So whose fault is it that the nice big engine that the town bought for us cant get near the fire? Its their fault for not making the homeowner provide an adequate (sp?) driveway for us to get up. Do we owe the taxpayers more, sure we do. Until we can staff every piece of apparatus they have purchased with trained people and can get out the door of the firehouse in a few minutes we will always owe them more. But if they, the town boards and the homeowner dont help themselves, how is it our fault? Its a two way street and at the moment both lanes are falling into disrepair.
  19. 648, a great idea, but then you dont have equal rights unfortunately. something needs to be done. I think the only good thing is that they cant become a volunteer again if convicted, no?
  20. Sq288, what was wrong with the towers, and which ones?
  21. x635 wrote: "I was there 1 hour after the knockdown, to visit with friends and relieve boredom, and to get photos of Bedford Hills apparatus. " You have plenty of photos of the Bedford Hills apparatus, I dont think you need many more. Anyone who goes to a fire scene an hour after its over is definatly a buff. Im guessing you were on a job otherwise you would have been there to watch the entire thing.
  22. Art, good point, also most have nice big air conditioning units along with many vent pipes for the various cooking appliances.
  23. x635 wrote: I will buff stuff at work, when I can swing it, but not on my own time except when I can. Um that seems like a double negative to me, not on my own time except when I can. Looks like 635 always can, which makes you a BUFF. Sorry to break your heart.
  24. Hockey will suffer in the first few years no doubt, but the fact that arenas are only so big will end up helping. I think you will see a lot of people who have never gone to a game buying tickets. Theres sure to be some great deals out there to try and win us back.
  25. How many houses around westchester have poles? Pelham still has one.
