  1. X635, When I was there the guys said it was going to a Conn Dept and now that you mentioned New Haven, I think that sounds right. It is a shame that you didnt take any pictures of it, did you two run out of space on the cameras?
  2. Was up there last week picking up Ladder 2. It is a Seagrave 100 Ft Tiller, going to a Department in Southern Conn, I forgot the name. Beautiful truck, tons of storage, full complement of ground ladders.
  3. very disappointed in you 901, not getting under that tarp, you should be ashamed of yourself.
  4. SHAC7301: I definatly agree with you. If your rigs can consistantly roll expeditiously then adding a flycar option wouldnt be a bad idea if feasable. But if you cant roll the rig, then there is no need for a BLS flycar.
  5. Ill use lights on the Bronx River Parkway because it is way to narrow to drive a box on. Its a nice easy drive right down the middle line, and people still try and run me off the road to pass me. Other than that, 99 percent of my rides to the hospital are nice and easy without lights.
  6. DFFD, I believe only Eng 309 has the LDH supply. I dont understand why they dont have it on all of their Engines. To me one 4" or 5" LDH is a whole lot easier to lay in, as well as hook up. Its also a whole lot less hose on the ground at major incidents making it easier for crews to pick out regular handlines. At the Caryl Ave fire, Eng 309 stretched the LDH from McLean Ave up Caryl. When walking closer to the fire building, it looked like charged hoselines were all over the place, but I couldnt for the life of me figure out what was supply and which were attack. Im sure Yonkers has their reasons, just like FDNY, but less hoselines on the fireground means less things to trip over as well as less things to go wrong.
  7. chief865, Does the EMT who goes straight to the scene have any equipment with them? Im guessing no, what organization is going to equip every EMT with a first in bag and O2? Thats going to cost a fortune. If they dont have the equipment then what good are they? In this day and age of BSI, even CPR should not be iniatied without the proper equipment. So now you have someone on scene who is trained, but technically should not be doing anything because of those BSI precautions.
  8. I know im selling to the wrong crowd. That was the point of the post, starting patient care 5 minutes sooner but still waiting 15 minutes for an ambulance to arrive to transport is silly. Go and staff the ambulance, and then when you arrive, you can start pt care, package, and transport while continuing your assesment. Your really not helping the patient any if you cant transport them anyplace.
  9. How bout using 80U4 as the taxicab, pick up the members, go through all the traffic, and now youve got yourself an ambulance in half the time?
  10. They are a good idea for a big are like Somers however I think they defeat the purpose. They should be used more to get people to the ambulance. If you get to the scene, you still have to wait for someone else to get the ambulance. Yes, you would be iniating care sooner, but if your still waiting for someone else to go and get the ambulance, wouldnt it be better to get the ambulance there so that you can transport?
  11. Anyone know who is going to be manning the unit, will it be the Engine manpower or the Rescue manpower?
  12. Westchester Comm College usually has one or two of them also.
  13. Awww Art, how nice. I thought thats what you bought the new truck for, so you could put it in 4x4, and drive yourself home to her.
  14. How bout some more snow? Im all up for it, bring on the white stuff. You cant tell me that you dont like the stuff, whether you go out and make money, or sit in the house with that favorite someone, either way, the white stuff it good. Im up for another foot or two, the more the merrier.
  15. I believe this rig will replace the Mack, which is currently used as a reserve piece. When the rig goes into service, it is more than likely going to replace Tower Ladder 3, which will become the reserve. The city may not get rid of the Mack. Some members are hoping that the city goes back to 3 trucks, which would therefore mean Tower Ladder 3 would go back in service as a front line rig. Any FDMV boys want to comment on this?
  16. How bout Hartsdale down on central ave.
  17. So how many of us are still in the running to win it all? Seems like the person who knows nothing about college BBall might win all the money, the top teams are dropping like flys.
  18. I think they got carried away with the ban. The berets have been part of tradition for a long time, and when first started, they asked for permission to wear them. I definatly agree with banning the other stuff, the beads, scarves, etc, that is definatly a distraction.
  19. Congrats JBE, but we need some more rundowns on the who was working which jobs in the city, lol. Back to the topic at hand, Why do most west coast departments run only tillers?
  20. 648, I thought you wanted to go to florida, now your want to sleighride down High St. Sounds like someone cant make up their mind where they want to live.
  21. We love the white stuff. Art, feel free to send the 57s to any ems calls u want on monday night, im up for some fun in the snow.
  22. Wolfemt, I agree with you 100%. I happened to know a few people too, and although the author is entitled to his opinion, I think he did go a little too far with the comments regarding the towers. Its a shame he thinks the way he does, maybe he is just not able to see what we do everyday when someone calls for help.
  23. Bring on the white stuff. The more the happier I get. Whats wrong with you people? Snow is fun, and it keeps a lot of the retards off the roads. And its always fun to watch the morons in their 4 wheel drive cars go sliding all over the place.
  24. Chris, do i smell a bidding war?
