Yonkers Fire Stations

Wasn't there plans to convert the old Station 8 into the YFD Museum?

There were plans to do that but there was not enough money to do the renovation. A lot of damage occurred in the years the structure was vacant.

Yes it was beautiful. It was built as a Carriage House for the Trevor Estate. (The main Trevor building is the original part of the Hudson River Museum to the south of present Station 8.)

Any plans for the abandoned stations? They look like they used to be beautiful buildings. Why haven't they been used or sold?

Batt2,

does YFD still own all of those vacant houses?? So much history there in Yonkers I would hate to see it all be lost. to some privite person who is only going to rip them down.

Sta 9 use to be where I would hang out with one of my family friends Angelo when he was a chaffeur there and I lived on Odell Ave. Great place.

I love Yonkers.
