FDNY: What Type Of Manifold Is This?

So can someone tell what this and used for it kinda looks like some type of mainfold.........

Yes it is a manifold carried by the sattelite companies.

It's a big manifold.

That's what it's called, a manifold.

I think the green hair dye has done something to your brain.

You make it too easy.

It takes water in from a big hose and disperses it to multiple smaller lines. all discharges are gated.

I've heard it on the radio referred to as "the manifold"

no adjetives. no special names. just call it as it is

ha ha ha thanks alot your too funny but im more intrested in why you would need this in a city whats wrong with one single engien and its discharges, i never seen one till we used one up here in the sticks to do tanker shuttles filling tankers.

You need it when you pump off a large diameter watermain, supplying more than just a couple of handlines. Possibly supplying a couple of tower ladders, placing copious amounts of water to a scene, only using one 2,000 gpm pumper to do it. That's on top of however many engines are supplying handlines seperately. Say for the sake of argument, those single engines are pumping off the same watermain, and it's only an 8 inch main or a 12 inch main. Up comes E-9/SAT-1, they hit a 36 inch main about a block away, and they can supply more water without taking anything away from the first few engines operating. Hope that helps. PS, the Satellite Water System is one of my specialties and I do drills on it pretty regularly.
