Structure Fire - East Fishkill Fire District - 27 HighView Rd. - 5/4/09

22 posts in this topic

I was first due with East Fishkill today at their structure fire at #27 High View Rd in the Station 1 area...... It's not often that I have the luxury of being first due........ They made a quick knock down with one line and rescued many cats most of which were in some amount of respiratory distress. EFFD was assisted at the scene by the Village of Fishkill's FAST team who were put to work. Hughsonville was dispatched as the new FAST team however they were cancelled in-route once the fire was knocked down....... New Hackensack and Rombout FD's provided station coverage..... Here are some photo's .............

The first line gets stretched........

The First in Engine 39-21, who's placement leaves the front of the structure open for the truck; prepares to charge the first line.....

Second line stretched.....

"Lets go!" Firefighters get "set up" as the structures occupant watches anxiously.....

"Charge the line......." Thick black smoke has charged the structure and exits the front door......

Making progress....... A small fire extinguisher lies in the grass most likely from an unsuccessful attempt by the occupant to extinguish the fire....

Excellent work EFFD and to you Bill, not often we get to see the first due activities captured (well unless we're the first due).

Of course I like the hose color ;)
