Hey all,

I am currently seaching to buy a Co-op and or condo and There are a few places in Yonkers that seem nice. It would be nice to be near one of the railroad stations either hudson or harlem line. What areas are Good and what areas are "bad" in Yonkers. (I have heard that Yonkers with a Bronxville PO is very nice).

Any Information would be greatly appreated

Thanks and be safe

For Co-op / train areas ,a few that come to mind are; Northwest Yo on Warburton Ave is walking distance to the Greystone Train Sta,(Hudson line),East Yonkers in the Pondfield rd/Palmer Rd area with walking distance to Bronxville Train Sta.,and Bronx River Road area close to the Mt Vernon Train.I'd mention the Morris Crescent area by the Ludlow Sta but that area comes with a distinct smell.(Westchester sewage treatment plant).Good Luck

Check out Oak Hill Condos off of Colonial Pkwy in Yonkers. I live around there, real nice area on Yonkers/Tuckahoe border. Walk to Tuckahoe train station. Super quiet, but close to everything. Phone number for their office is 914 337-1312.

I live right off of Bronx River Road near the Mt. Vernon West station. That area of Yonkers has a ton of nice co-ops for sale.

Yes, that Bronxville PO area is quite desirable but still somewhat expensive.

Just make certain you have three locks on

your door, the area has been a favorite for

professional "pick lock" burglars from Da' Bronx

and NYC for many years now. There are some,

but not many larceny

from auto jobs out here also. All and all, it is

a very low crime area and none of the buildings

have any non senior Section 8 tenants.

Stay away from that 20 story modular building opposite the library on Central Ave.

A tenant and former elected official living there told me of some sleazy problem tenants

that moved in. Also stay far away from the Crestwood Lake garden apts up near Nathan's.

The rest of the buildings along Central Avenue are stable.

The nearby Fleetwood section of Mount Vernon is very good as

are areas in downtown Tuckahoe at that and Crestwood station.

P.S--There are also several 1960's era condos in east Yonkers in good areas.

The common charges are low since they have no poools, clubrooms, guardhouses, etc.

Don't have the excat addresses:

One on Midland Avenue two blocks west of Central opposite Solazzo deli,

another in the Tuckahoe Rd 700 block next to the Getty station and others are

on Georgia Avenue near Texas Ave.
