'First' responders are just a 911 call away

People reporting an emergency in Rockland and Westchester counties called 911 more than 1.6 million times in 2011, program administrators said.

The people on the receiving end of those calls are dispatchers who serve as the first link in a long chain of first responders ready to aid the public.

Great article for the public to highlight Dispatchers during Telecommunicator Week!

Really well written and positive article. Glad to see that they recognized the dispatchers and call receiving operators who work so hard in the background and are easily forgotten. About time there's some positive press in this negative world. By the way Ray, nice picture
