It seems like every day another new feature is being introduced on this site. Personally, I think the site is greatly improved. The favorite feature I like is when someone makes a new post the site will update to reflect it. It has to have taken a lot of effort on the part of the administration to make these improvements.
I've noticed the fundraising goal has been fairly stagnant as of late. If a majority of the "active" posters on the site would just step up and help the site reach it's very reasonable goal of a few thousand dollars, it would be a good thing. It would be doing the right thing imho. After all, we all participate here, get good information, share our thoughts and opinions, and for me being retired, it's a way to stay connected to the fire service.
Tis the season, and I encourage my fellow emtbravo members to help the site meet it's fundraising goal.

I remember the old brick firehouse I worked in. I think it was built in 1896. It even had an old Hayloft that used to store the hay for the horses. In the basement were maybe 12" x 12" solid oak beams. No drive through bays. No central air conditioning and we had to make sure there was always water in the huge steam boiler. Sometimes we"d get a loud "Bang" from the old steam raditors. The old wooden single pain windows would rattle all night long on those cold nights. In the morning the frost would be on the outside AND the "Inside" of those windows. The kitchen was on the apparatus floor behind the rigs. If one rig went out, you got a bit of a "feed from the engine smoke" while eating your pork and beans. We had an Engine, a Ladder and a Rescue in that firehouse. They closed the Rescue Co., and shortly after the Ladder moved to the new firehouse. I was assigned to the Engine and we were the last to go. We ended up staying there for about a year. Then in 1995, I was working the night shift and the chief gave me the keys and said; "Lock the place up at 1800 hrs and go to your new home". None of us wanted to leave.
When we got to the new firehouse we pulled the rig in through the drive through bay. The cement floor was all newly painted. It didn"t even smell like a fire house. Inside the walls in the various rooms were covered with white sheetrock. It reminded me of being in a Doctors office rather than a Firehouse. It just wasn"t the same.

The transition team is not just looking to cut. It was charged with evaluating what works & what does not work & to give CE Astorino a "snap shot" of everything and an initial road map.
Very well said. Rumors do not help anyone.
That being said, I still didn't get a Harrumph out of that guy!
Tonight News 12 reported that Spano is against the BOL, last minute try, and I heard other members of the board are also against it. Lets just wait and see what the CE elect comes up with.

This is pretty difficult to watch. I was wondering how and why we let these somali dudes into the country. They are notorious for being pirates right? We had Black Hawk Down right? So how the **** does a bunch of animals like this (clearly heard speaking in their native tounge if you have the stomach for the audio) make it into this country; then proceed to inflict terror on old white people, and young children, AMERICANS ON THEIR OWN SOIL, then flaunt it on video? I pray LE catches up with these b@stards; and ends up deporting all of them back to that dessert horne of Africa, that lawless dumphole.....let them eat insects again!!!
