Our department has had such a policy for many years. In addition to the hours junior members are allowed at the firehouse, they are also prohibited from responding to calls outside the district, have to meet academic requirements, and their membership is subject to parental consent until they graduate or are otherwise considered to be emancipated.
Although I am not positive, the hours on school nights may be due to child labor laws.

Not that I am aware of. The long term storage of the data helps to determine a persons patterns, whether they are suspect in a crime or not. Just like your EZ-Pass tag is read in places no where near a toll. The government also uses facial recognition technology scanned from drivers license photos to build databases. We are increasingly under surveillance. Evermore it is up to the individual to prove his innocence rather than the states' duty to prove guilt.

A bit of good news today, although they upheld most of the law, the 7 round limit was overturned today in federal district court. A small victory but hopefully more on appeal.

Years ago, I started switching, as did thousands of others, to energy star rated appliances, cfl's /leds, and water saving devices. The electric company soon realized that all this saving by the people was hurting their bottom line. So as people use less electricity, rates go up. All the switching didn't save me a thing as I now pay more to use less.
Add in the hundreds of jobs lost in the US because of this as manufacturers closed plants and the mercury laden cfls creating new types pollution sources and problems.
Additionally, while using less energy to operate, cfl and led bulbs, when compared to incandescent bulbs, use more energy, precious and toxic metals to produce. The bulbs are also EPA classified as hazardous waste.
How many homeowners are hanging on to their burned out cfl or led waiting for the annual county hazardous waste collection (Which costs them money and time)?
    Give me my Edison back.

You hit the expedite button in the flycar/amblaunce to get to the scene 10 seconds faster and make no difference in patient outcome while endangering yourself and your crew for no reason.

Final thoughts on this and my apologies to the OP for the direction some, including myself, have taken this thread.
    1. Not a member of the "tea party".
    2. The "thinning the herd" comment was more what I was thinking.
    3. ANY LEO or HCP here, that say they don't judge a suspect or patient in some way is a liar. We ALL do it, whether you want to admit it or not. Are you honestly going to say that you haven't judged, in some way, the EDP that you have responded to the 15th time? The drunk that wrecked his car? The frequent flyer? The homeless alcoholic? The "seeker"? The nursing home? Do you see the elderly white lady driving the Buick the same as you do the middle aged black man driving the Mercedes? Would it make a difference if that white lady were in the grocery store parking lot and the black man was in your neighborhood or "the hood"?
We ALL judge. Yet rather than admit it, you would rather crucify me here because I admit that I don't have the same level of "compassion" for the addict as I might for someone else.
Look in the mirror ladies and gentlemen.

I guess maybe I'm just getting old and cold. You want to shoot up and OD, well that's the chance you take. It may be a cool new toy to play with, but its my ever increasing tax dollars at work. Save 'em so we can save 'em again next weekend. Eventually you just need to let Darwin do his work.

On Wednesday, the Coldenham Fire Dept responded to an MVA to find it involved one of their members. Robert Cruver, 53, was killed in the crash.
One of his sons, Matt, is an EMT and works for MLSS. He was one of the first on scene.
Lets keep the Cruver and Coldenham families in our prayers through this time.
If you are able, services are Sunday, 9/15 at Goodwill Church, Rt 208, Montgomery. Visitation from 4-7 with funeral services and firematic services following.
