Additionally, as a part of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, the task force maintains constant operational readiness, and is a local resource for residents of Fairfax County.
  11. I am kind of surprised that this country is only senting one team of USAR to such a large scale disaster. Does anyone know if the northeast is sending any resources? I have a close friend that is from Haiti. He would tell me how the fire service is basically non-existant in Haiti. Very poorly trained with minimal equipment, usually hand me downs donated from other countries.
  12. JFLNN, What positive changes would you like to see in the volunteer fire service?
  13. Can anybody advise me what the ISO classification is for the City of NY?
  14. On the new FDNY engine companies (Eng 79 or 81) there is a stainless steel box above the cab. What is carried in that compartment?

  16. Great video. This is worth checking out.
  17. What company was FF Joyce assigned to?
  18. Most NY news stations did a story on this video. It is incredible how they praised the civilian as being a hero, but made no mention of the FF entering a burning apartment with no hose line, in terrible conditons, to save this boys life.
  19. Can anybody provide me with a list of combo (paid & volunteer) departments in Westchester County.
