The Fire District purchased our first staff vehicle from J.H. Ketcham in Dover Plains, a 2005 Ford Expedition, with a command center in the back, once I get a chance I will see about getting some further photos, although not new, it's a start in the right direction, Chief Boardman just picked the unit up from the graphics shop in Carmel. Yes I know it's not Blue!!!!

Training with TL-121. Literally. TL-121 was totaled in a rollover accident a couple of years ago, and not much was salvageable. So, they are using it for technical rescue training. Unique and very cool way to use apparatus being disposed of.

Captain could you share what your department uses, you are always proactive so anything to aid the rest of us that actually take the time to read and listen to what you offer would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Looks nice. We have an 05 IH 4x4 interface style pumper (rear mount pump though) and overall we love it. Love the chassis very much, and I see you mentioned how the IH is just so ridiculously tall now, due to cooling requirements and needing the larger radiator. At least that's what we were told when we asked the IH rep, when we remakred that the cab just sits so high now. Wish we had 750 gallons of water, and I like how you stowed your ladders. In hindsight, these are some things we'd probably do different after having had the rig for eight years, but we carry an absurd amount of equipment in a nice compact rig with our current configuration.
If we had to replace the chassis we'd probably have to go Freightliner, as they seem to be able to keep their overall height lower. A new IH 4x4 just wouldn't fit in the bays where the rig is currently assigned. I see you're at 119" but our ten foot door isn't quite ten foot with other issues going on...
Can't wait to see the finished product. Sold a unit to a department with a front mount Hale, and you really can't beat a front mount for making room in the body!

This new 4-wheeler is for brush fire and rescue response, has a 35 gallon tank, electric pump, 25 feet of hose with a trigger gun so we can ride the flanks and get a quick attack on the fire. It carries 2 soft indian tanks, union rake, pulaski tool, broom and an 18" Husqvarna Chain Saw and can carry 4 firefighters to the front. We were going to get a skid unit with rescue body but it was too pricey for us right now so we made due with what we could purchase. The tank and pump unit came from a local FD that bought it and only used it for a little while before up-grading so thank you to the Middleburgh Fire Department for that deal.
At the end of the parade, my daughter came with me and we shook the hands of every veteran on a float for them, she was right there with me making me proud as a daddy!

As a Past President and a Chairman of the Fairchester Hose Hauler's Muster at Croton Point Park, I would like to offer the following advice for thought:
If you are considering a County Park site (Kensico, etc.) or any site for that matter then it is important that the first Muster be as successful as possible in order to keep the host and attendees enthusiastic and locked in for the future. That being said, I would strongly recommend that the commitee focus on a date for next year. A successful muster takes a lot of logistics planning, equipment and people and cannot be just thrown together by a handful of people in a short time. You want to come into it with your "A" game and plan, thoroughly publicize and execute a memorable event that will make everyone want more.
The Fairchester Hose Haulers Muster was nationally known because it was put on by a group of hard working, dedicated individuals who focused on maintaining high standards that did not erode over time. The only reason it ended was because some members of the core group moved away, others wanted a break and there was no "young blood" willing to do the hard work.

They also do not fill the basin any more. I haven't seen water in it in a while. The Westchester Parks Dept run the Kensico Park. I would give them a call to see what could be done/allowed etc.... I think that it is a fantastic idea! Also, Kensico is a great location in that The Rising the Westchester Co. 9/11 memorial is located there.
