I would say the same thing; it's not necessarily that people are "hiding", its that they want to participate in forums and discuss issues they see in the field at work, but since their supervisors monitor these forums they do not have the ability to post their real identity. I myself have just recently found out that some of the other members in my volly department have been following me closely here to see if I will say something negative about someone specifically so they can report me to the chief...I simply told them the same that remember585 said in his post; "My comments are my own and do not reflect my department." I am after all entitled to my opinion as long as its shared in a professional way with no crude or innapropriate insults or comments. But my name and location are accurate, and any who have PM'd me here with a request for my email has received it and I have even had a few phone conversations with some members to further discuss something we may have agreed/disagreed with each other about in the threads.

And that's happened more times then I care to remember...

My username isn't my real name (obviously) but is a reminder of my late Uncle killed in the line of duty. However, my real name and location are posted underneath.
I like the thought process that if you can't say it to someone's face, don't post it behind an alias.

Remember that when you take your department car to the NYS Chief's Show at Turning Stone Casino. And you guys are worried about a commissioner's car at Woodbury Commons.

Yesterday morning Dan, had a PIAA in front of Jack's Auto, car vs. tractor trailer with extrication, the guys used the newly purchased cutter/spreader on the Engine to pop the door. Saw one of the fire commissioners shortly after the accident and he said that purchase already paid for itself on the rigs first run.

Reading some of the comments and posts here makes me smile, I am curious how many have no issues taking rigs to parades as far as Lake George for a weekend, it's parade people, some of these I am sure these rigs are valued over 1 million+ and paid for by the taxpayers of their districts, justified for purchased, yet this is ok? Personally I do not see how any fire district can justify taking any of their apparatus to a parade unless it's to a neighboring department, that just me as we are continually being asked or forced to do more with less.
Above it was posted that this vehicle is not a Chief staff vehicle and a fire district vehicle and perhaps just maybe the operator was in attendance at the Fire District conference that was the same weekend, are we really debating this topic without even having any facts other then this photo?

We have an Onan pto driven pump (different sizes on different units) with an XRT tool power head. Takes up no room (frame mounted) and the mechanic says he will never let us go back to hydraulic generators again. There were some issues with the vendor not plumbing the tool curcit properly and you have to consider the length of your plumbing runs, but its a good system
