  4. I've read the previous post on AMA and i have a few ideas i would like to throw out there. Example One: Dept A has an automatic commercial fire alarm. Dept B is half the distance away from the alarm than Dept A... would it be overkill to send Dept A (same district) and Dept B (closer station)? Example Two: Dept A has a MVA w/ injuries on an interstate in the vicinity of Dept B district line. We all know highway calls are never where they are said to be, mostly poor information from the caller, so would sending Dept A and Dept B assure the incident is more efficently responded to. (Traffic, wrong direction, wrong locations major factors on the highway calls) You can give all the examples you want.. but isnt the most efficent response the most effective one too? If that means that more resources and manpower are involved than so what.. at least you are assuring the best protection possible members of your community and in your neighboring communities as well. Any additional thoughts on this topic?

  8. great topic... rosie is a frequent caller to the PFD... few times a month i would say. im probably the only one in my department who lets her go on her rants. I usually just sit in the lounge and put her on speaker for a while. Recently i have learned that she will actually converse with you to some extent if you talk back to her... id love to meet her one day JBJ
  9. Being a member of Purchase, I would like to give a little more insight on this topic. The fact that we now have to respond to automatic alarms on campus is not what we have a problem with, the fact that we are going to respond to over 1000 of these a year is what the problem is. On the bright side I believe the amount of calls can be drastically lowered simply by giving students some basic fire awareness. These alarms are being set off by cigarettes, hair dryer, candles, and smoke conditions not to be found upon arrival. In the past month already we have seen a more concious effort by the students to not create an environment to have these detectors go off. Purchase was on pace for 450 runs in 2006 (55% false alarm) before this policy was implemented, that number will turn into over 600 for 2006 at the rate we are going. If this pace is keep for 2007 we will be responding to 1000 to 1200 alarms. I would like to think that any department that has that type of increase in volume will have an adjusting period. JBJ
  10. I got a chance to go down there and take a look at the rig earlier this week. Aside from the 8 inch raised roof and the low hose bed, this engine will be very similar to the new maurader II we will be recieving next winter (NEW E-238). Great Job guys..

  18. Has anybody ever seen or heard of an engine with two hydraulic ladder racks? In areas where you may not be able to get the truck to, such as long, narrow, winding driveways, would it be useful to have more ground ladders on your first due engine? With two racks on top of an engine, it seems that you can have a larger ground ladder compliment with little compartment loss. How do you feel about other efficient ladder storage systems on engines? Just looking for some feedback. Thanks. CC: CLM92982
