Maybrook Engine Company No. 1, Inc. (Orange County) will celebrate their 100th anniversary with a parade on Saturday, July 19th. More information will be shared via social media. There is some confusion, as there are 2 Facebook groups dedicated to this event: https://www.facebook.com/mbkfdanniversary & https://www.facebook.com/maybrookfd.anniversary?fref=ts.

Maybrook will also be adding another chief's vehicle to their fleet. From what I have heard it will be a pick-up (unsure of make/model) and go to Car 2. Car 1 will retain his currently assigned Tahoe and Car 3 will be given Car 2's current Suburban. They expect to take delivery in late summer/early fall.

She's a beauty and I believe the only apparatus in Orange County with a hose reel.

One of Tuxedo's (Orange) two new KME engines (E-569 for Sterling Forest Co. 2) is on both KME's website and Facebook page. It will be on display at the fire expo in Harrisburg, PA next weekend.

It'd be cool to see this used for fire service....sadly it'll mostly be a garbage truck.
Agreed. That would make a great tanker or walk-in rescue chassis.

The apparatus news page on Eli's site (10-75.net) suggests a 100' rear mount Ferrara platform for East Fishkill. No such beast is shown on Ferrara's "In Production" page as of yet, however.
Updates for Orange Co.: Washington Heights' rescue due in August since switching to Ferrara, and Mechanicstown's Seagrave engine (which I am now told will replace 125, rather than 118) is due in late May.
Still no word on Pine Bush or Sparrowbush's bids.

Published: 2:00 AM - 04/13/14TOWN OF WALLKILL — The state comptroller's office rapped the Circleville Fire Company for making payments without following proper procedures, in an audit released Thursday. Auditors went over records from Jan. 1, 2012 to Oct. 22, 2013, randomly testing 40 disbursements, and found more than half either weren't approved at a company meeting, or were approved but didn't have proper supporting documentation. All the payments were for legitimate fire company purposes, for things such as fire company social events and the annual dinner. Fire Company President Kevin Holland said in a response letter that they would improve their record-keeping.

Rombout either has taken delivery of a new Supthen engine or will be soon.. It replaces 62-12 and if you look on there facebook page there's pics of the old rig in its new home Midway Tennessee.
They also have a few progress photos of the new engine.

Maybrook is in process of building a new engine to replace Engine 215. The new engine will be designated as Engine 218. From what I have heard, they are looking to make it a twin to Engine 210, 2012 Spartan ERV Metro Star.

CBS 2 News Reports that the Smoke Detectors in the Fire Department were not functioning...
I think that they should be thankful that the fire broke out while 2 people were there. Had the fire broken out in the middle of the night they would have probably lost all of their apparatus / equipment and their building by the time a neighbor woke up, saw the sky glowing, and reported the fire.
I watched a couple videos of the incident and swore I heard smoke detectors sounding in one of them.

Join with the attitude of "What Can I do for the Department; not, What is the Department gonna do for/give Me?"
I think JFK might have said that!

Last updated: 11:57 AM - 11/18/13WASHINGTONVILLE — A Washingtonville man was arrested Saturday evening after, police said, he crashed into a fire truck while driving drunk. Village police said the fire truck was responding to a brush fire on Lincolndale Acres in New Windsor, with emergency lights and sirens on. John Cavalari Sr., 68, pulled his vehicle to the right side to let the fire truck pass, then turned left into the fire truck's path and hit its side.
There were five firefighters on the truck. Nobody was hurt. Cavalari's vehicle was heavily damaged; the fire truck sustained minor damage. Police said Cavalari's blood-alcohol content was .12. He was charged with felony drunken driving due to three prior convictions for alcohol-related offenses, and also issued three traffic tickets. He was released on $500 bail to appear in village court at a later date.
