Having seen firsthand the effects of bin Ladens handiwork and "inspiration" both here at home and abroad, I can tell you that to me it doesn't matter one iota if he was armed or not or even if they were weapons within a hundred miles of him, he got what he deserved. Now it's time to go down the list and give the rest of his associates a nice strong dose of the same lethal medicine. The sooner they're all DEAD the better and the sooner the terrorists of the world will learn the lesson that you DON'T F#%K WITH THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA and live.
I guess I'm too much of a hawk but to me, no cost is too great and no time passage too long to dole out the justice deserved to terrorists. As far as I'm concerned no mercy should be shown until the last fetid corpse of those who seek to do us harm is rotting in a festering worm and rat infested hole somewhere. Like the Israelis after Munich, no rest until those responsible have paid their due in full to the souls of those they murdered.

Have we really become that much of a nation of whiners and publicity hounds that even an event as justified as the elimination of an avowed terrorist and virulently anti-American murderer causes some to be "offended" and get on the news? Let's put this in perspective
There are some upset because his codename was Geronimo. It's just a commonly used phrase and well known name, easily recognizble by everyone, not an anti Native American slur. Do people really have that much free time on their hands that they can sit and dwell on the meaning of a code name? C'mon get real will ya and go find something better to complain about.
Now an even hotter topic, whether or not he was armed...WHO CARES!!! Did this hero of so many radical Islamic murderers care whether or not the thousands he has or had murdered were armed or could defend themselves? NO he didn't, as a matter of fact he relied on the fact they weren't and preyed on the innocent just as all terrorists do. A clean quick kill for this coward is almost too good an end to this waste of human flesh. I'm quite sure many of us would have liked to have seen a much slower and excruciatingly painful demise for this "leader". To those that have a problem with the manner of his death, get over it and be thankful it was quick and he wasn't given a more fitting final few years of suffering.
And now on to his burial at sea. Again he was afforded much more respect than he ever gave to any one of his victims. Did he care that thousands were simply obliterated at Ground Zero, with no trace for the familes? NO again he counted on that. So he sleeps with the fishes, big deal. He got his immediate burial of his cleaned corpse as is Muslim custom, he got much more respect than he ever gave others or deserved. Stop whining and rejoice that he is DEAD, DEAD DEAD just as he shoud be.
And finally for all those who see his rightful removal from the face of the earth this as an increase in the risk that we, as Americans, face in this world...WAKE THE HELL UP!!!!. Osama bin Laden did not invent anti Americanism, radicalism or terrorism, he only benefited and gained notoriety from them. His death will have no great impact on the desire of those radical and militant elements in this world that want to harm us.
To Osama bin Laden GOOD RIDDANCE SCUMBAG and MAY YOU ROT IN HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY
Remain vigilant America and remember freedom is not free.
    Thank you Obama
Thank you SEAL team six and all that serve our nation in the Military
    And
    God Bless America

What PD's should do when manpower permits, is set up a Move Over Act operation. Have a Patrolcar on side of road with lights on and pull over and ticket all who don't comply! Prob get a couple of idiot drivers!

Best pager ever: Minitor II. I've had two of them over the years. Both dropped in several puddles, the toilet once (clean water), one dropped off a roof, had it run over by a car, and even went for a ride on the front bumper of my hometown's quint. They never died, never broke, and dried out fairly quickly. I just hope the Swissphones are just as durable.

I once had a cat named Oscar, after Oscar De La Hoya... Simply because He used his first seven lives fighting with the animals in my community, Live 7 was a Raccoon that ripped out his vocal cords and his front paw.... He left my home before I could figure out what Live 8 would be.... Cats are interesting. That was my "Just got home from long day" rant of stupidity. haha

I have ZERO sympathy for people who put drugs into their bodies. They know the risk... if you get a hot bag and thats the end of the line for you, tough s***.. you did it to yourself.
I would much rather see the time of EMS spent helping the victims of Emergencies who didn't cause the situation themselves.
    Just my opinion

The other day, the snowy commute proved horrendous. At the rollover between Peekskill Hollow and Bryant Pond Roads, so many Good Samaritans intervened and helped a hurt, scared lady who skidded off the road in her minivan and came to a stop on the vehicle's side against a tree.
Thank you to the off-duty EMT I saw running into the woods toward her vehicle. Thanks to the guy trained as a first-responder who also was a life-long Boy Scout who just wanted to help if he could. Thanks especially to the several off-duty NYSTroopers who stopped, provided invaluable scene safety (with loaned flares- ahem) and helped to speed up the BLS response. And thanks, George the medic, for getting there to relieve me and allow me to get to work in the local ER (looking and feeling much like a wet, half-drowned rat).
Evereytime I start to think that people in general just suck and don't care about anyone but themselves, Good Samaritans like the ones I met the other day prove me wrong and restore my faith in mankind.
Thanks, all of you, for that.

    2 points. 1 serious...1 funny....
OK. I'm going to give in and ask a question and I swear its not a dig to anyone on the site. I thought there were rules of conduct that prohibited the "bashing" or bad mouthing of agencies? If they were an agency in the Hudson Valley posts would be deleted or the thread closed or deleted entirely. As I said I'm not trying to cause a rift..but most of you know I'm pretty fair and am up front and speak my mind. Now with that said..I really don't care nor am offended by anything said. I'm a realist and don't eat cake while wearing rose colored glasses while sharing my space with pink elephants.
Point #2. I love the pic with Paul Blart in it. Classic.

Blue LEDs are a SAFETY ISSUE not a police issue thank you very much. It became legal for police as a safety issue and is legal on fire apparatus for that same issue as well. Clearly you are letting your opinion get in the way of the facts.

You've got to be kidding me. What are you talking about? Are you insinuating that they will use this vehicle to pull people over? It's the department's choice if they want to use this lettering. I don't see the point of it, personally, but there is no need to attack any department for choosing it. It's my understanding that many NY Volly Chiefs use their cars for personal business so that they are always able to respond while in or near district. This makes sense and I wouldn't consider it abuse if it's part of their department's policies.
It's also possible that when the public sees a chiefs vehicle at the grocery store, and don't understand why, they will consider it abuse (as you stated), when it actully is done for a good reason. Maybe they are trying to avoid bad press? The public also thinks that when we shut our lights and sirens off en route, that we are just playing with them. If these towns could afford to have a Chief sit in the station all day and wait for calls, I'm sure they would.

Come on guys be constructive and have some respect for the men and women who lost their lives.
No matter where this accident occured fire companies would have done the best job they were capable of doing.
What is the point of comparing a small department like PM to the FDNY?
How about someone starts a thread educating first responders that read this site that the roof construction of these coach buses are thin sheetmeatal over foam which can easily be cut with a sawsall? Is that information possibly a bit more valuable than most of the nonsense above?
  19. FFBlaser liked a post in a topic by v85 in Bill Would Ban Photos At Accident Scenes
But, according to just this article, it bans the use of all mobile devices (ie. cell phones) within 500 feet of an accident. So if someone is walking down the sidewalk and gets within 500 feet of an accident...
I also don't think this will stand up constitutionally. If the Supreme Court ruled that free speech allows protesting at military funerals and subjecting military families to that kind of pain, it would be hard for them to say photographing an accident scene causes more pain.

Yes, the lights are blue and they make the rig able to carry more equipment and help the firemen on-board to be better at their jobs.
