  1. The same could be said about the major ice storm that the region encountered earlier this year. My friend's department responded on over 100 calls(FD+EMS) throughout the day. They were receiving calls at HQ from motorists involved in MVA's that said, "We called 911 and got a busy signal." Fortunately they have dispatching capabilities and were able to handle these calls in a timely fashion. Now I do understand this is an extreme circumstance, but these things do arise. So to say that a call is never lost, is wrong.
  2. Is this a joke? Also, please learn the english language, its the cool thing to do.
  3. Anyone with info? Was stuck in the backup and saw the bird land.
  4. Hard to have an exhaust capture system in the bay if its up like that.
  5. The rules are the rules, as much as they suck. They are there for a reason. Stinks for Piermont.
  6. Effective Nov 19th, no more shipments to NY state. Distributors have until Dec 10th to sell off stock. 7. Flown Alaska Air more times than I can count from Newark to Seattle to many remote parts of Alaska. By far my favorite airline to travel on. Never had a bad crew, or unannounced cancellations. Food is ok, not great as with all domestic airlines. Very clean, and new aircraft, and the In-flight entertainment kept me awake for 6 hours transcon flights.
  8. Some incredible video. Looks like those guys on the ladder were also taking a beating from that straight stream.
  9. It's not standard but can be added to any helicopter. The skirts are made by many different companies and can be retrofitted for older choppers.
  10. And they voted him at Lieutenant. Obviously they vote for the most professional, qualified individuals for the officers roles.
  11. job security.
  12. And my guess is this gonna end the same way Yorktown was going to merge with WCPD. Failure.
  13. Ya think speed was a contributing factor to this accident
  14. Man, if I was a PA Cop, during the summer I would be on those thing's all day instead of sitting in a car.
  15. I think he should keep his words off the air unless he is an officer. He is in no position to be making decisions. Could you imagine the CF that would happen if every volunteer were able to pull up to the scene and just start calling for other resources? Disclaimer: I say "volunteer" in the second sentence because in 99.9% of career dept's, an officer is sitting up front in the rig.
  16. This isn't the first time this has happened. Happens more than you think.
  17. I was driving past Mohegan's HQ and saw some Empress guys outside with one of the rigs. Anyone know any more about this, if it's permenant or not?
  18. I would love to see an audit from the state about the VAC finances, because it sounds like you are on to something.
  19. Now that my suspicions seem to be validated, good job for Mohegan. I know that they had been having major coverage problems. Finally something good came from this.
  20. No air packs on the roof?
  21. Wouldn't work for a pumper, as the pump is actually powered by the engine, therefore needing a driveshaft between the engine and the pump.
  22. Just asking. And I'm not trying to start anything. From a standpoint of an observer, it is unclear.
  23. From what I heard, they were just buffin' it.
  24. So is that guy in the 7th picture just some random dude playing with the stabilizing jacks? Or is he a firefighter I thought the motto was, Always use proper PPE...
