They are simply following the leaders they have. Mayor Douche bag turned his back on them and now it's time to reap the seeds the Mayor has sowed. All the years of blood and sweat the NYPD put in under the greatest Mayor of all time is for naught. Good job a$$hole!!!

    May they rest in peace.
May their families, friends and brothers/sisters in the NYPD find comfort in one another while they grieve.
And may the gunman and anyone else who supports this action rot in hell.

This was very common in the late 1800's and early 1900's and still exists today in many older communities. Most houses held a single company with only a steamer and a hose cart. Today we tend to build large multi company stations.

....but you don't have 1 single day working on an FD100....built on the Ultra, Split Tilt cab.......in the FDNY. So.....there's that....

Your opinion isn't the problem. Your lack of respect for the INFORMED opinion of those with extensive hands on experience, is.

I love how you tell me that I've had too much koolaid and basically that I'm wrong with what I post about these rigs when I have first hand expierence with operating these rigs. And spend an awful amount of time in these rigs.
So please enlighten me on how I'm wrong with what I say about these rigs.

And with the electronics in the SCBA, we can (after the fact) see when it was tested (date & time) and what the levels were. This is one of the 1st thing NIOSH checks when investigating a LODD.
A few depts. can see the air levels in real time during an incident.

Americas premier custom heavy duty fire apparatus manufacturer. HA that's a joke right ?

If he drank too (<----correct spelling) much Kool Aide, he must have done it during the thousands of hours he probobly has on duty, working with those complete pieces of junk. I'm sure the view from Canada gives you great insight into the quality of the vehicles.....but I'm sure his is better. I know mine is.

Nah I'm not a kool aid drinker. Just have first hand expierence with their rigs and it was far from premier heavy duty custom apparatus manufacturer that they claim to do

    1) When I worked in NYC going to a call from Manhattan to Queens or the Bronx was closer than Many of our Westchester Relocates .
    2) The incident in question was going to Pelham. That means GFD would not be going "to the next district" but driving through Scarsdale, Eastchester, Mt Vernon to get to Pelham. It also means that Pelham has a Job and already committed PFD, PMFD, NRFD, EFD and MVFD. Also means that they will be covering both PFD & PMFD.
    3) That's the reason the ISO standard is that you have spare apparatus. Unfortunately with 58 departments we duplicate so much, but still most depts. have no spares. and can not justify them. When it comes to the ISO 9 (non-hydrant) departments/areas of the county most have more engines than needed and none have enough tankers.

I don't understand why there is opposition to responding in emergency mode to cover. Clearly you shouldn't respond as you would to a 10-75, but you need to get where you're going and quickly. When we relocate to another company to cover, we respond in emergency mode, slow and steady, but lights and siren non the less.
You're relocating to another area because at that moment there is inadequate fire protection there. What good am I to the people in, say Riverdale, if I'm 150 blocks away and a 1st due alarm comes in for fire, or anything else? When return, you drive with traffic.

I stand corrected. Good catch, even if it took 7.5 months to catch

University Hospital of Newark staffs a heavy rescue as part of the EMS contract with Newark. It is manned by two EMT's or paramedics. They mostly due vehicle extrication, but are equipped to do high-angle rope rescue, trench rescue, and industrial/marine rescue. They do not go into fires with Newark FD.

This will actually eliminate some of the candidates that should not even be accepted into the departments. Some departments are so desperate that they will accept anyone with a pulse and that does not help with the mission.

Agreed. Going this way put firefighters in danger. How much water is going to flow through this?
This was done to prove a point to the car owner, but at the potential expense of members operating and potential loss of more of the fire building.

You must make a "good faith" effort to collect from all patients, including co-pays. A "good faith" effort does not have to include sending patients to collections, but it does include sending bills directly to the patient. "Soft billing", as described, is against Medicare, and most private insurance, regulations.
An exception to this is that municipal ambulance services, that operate with tax dollars, can soft bill, if tax monies collected are specifically stated to offset lost billing revenue for residents only. If a municipality contracts with an ambulance service, that can be written into the contract as long as tax monies are used to pay for the contract. Again, this only applies to residents, not non-residents.

This is why NFPA 1901 requires AED's on all apparatus even if you do not provide EMS 1st Response. This is why all firefighters should have CPR and even CFR or EMT as a minimum.

I agree 100%. My father exercised regularly and took care of himself. He took a stress test in September and PASSED NO PROBLEM. This is the second time I've heard of a stress test inaccurately diagnosing any severe atherosclerosis or blockages. The only way they saw the blockages was through arterial catheterization. My father wants to tell everyone consult your doctor and see if this is an option. It may save your life or another's one day.

Hey guys here for an update-my father was responding to a full assignment on Monday when he suddenly collapsed. My brothers from WPFD used an AED to bring him back almost immediately. He went in for surgery yesterday and all went well. The doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

In Canada each province has their own set of safety requirements. Altogether they're pretty much the highest standards in the world. The reason why Demers has a huge portion of that market is because they build their rigs to meet or exceed the highest standards that are set up there, which eventually satisfies the safety standard of all provinces. Granted they're based in Canada so they do have home field advantage, but most US based manufactures don't sell up there since they can't build to standards. Demers is very safety-centric. Youtube their pull tests on interior cabinetry. Pretty interesting. They also use dynamic load testing on their boxes, which is a step above what others do in their static load testing.
