Kinda the point of this forum, isn't it?

SCCEMS is located at Jennersville Regional Hospital in West Grove, Chester County, PA. Their response area is the largest and most rural in the county, so their chase cars are usually stationed at various fire companies in their district, so it was pretty rare to get a shot of one of them at the hospital AND outside.
The newest unit, a 2013 Explorer, is behind 94 "A," but I couldn't get a good, unobstructed, shot.

My company just took possession of a new Chevy Silverado pickup. It replaced the old "Squad" 87 and is lettered "Utility" 87. When I asked, I was told ChesCo was switching over for local uniformity. In all of the other suburban Philadelphia counties, as well as in Philly, "Squad" = rescue pumper. Of course, in Philly, Squads 47 and 72 are more specialized, along the lines of FDNY's squad companies.

I was platooned to the South Station today. Fortunately, they had a public appearance event scheduled, so I was able to catch some of the trucks before they left.
    Top to bottom:
MICU 87-6, safely hiding from the public,....
Engine 6-2 (along with its twin, Engine 6-1, they are due for replacement later this year with Spartan/Marion pumpers)
    Rescue 6
Utility 6 (lettered Squad 6, but Chester County is now assigning the "Squad" label to rescue-pumpers)

These are my photos from Katonah FD’s parade last Wednesday. Weather wasn’t the best and I didn’t have a great spot but the parade was great. Photos are certainly not my best but I wanted to share. Anyone else who took photos, please share them in the thread. Some videos are bellow too.

You may not be working in the busiest company or the busiest neighboorhood but you need to be ready. If you are stressed and having trouble at routine fires imagine how things will go when confronted by the situation they were. Train. Take every run seriously, Get dressed. Be ready.

The infrastructure is there, the problem is there is no money to be made in these medications....so the companies end up devoting more production capacity and other resources for drugs they can charge more for. I guess the theory is why make 20 cent vials of morphine when you can make produce antivirals and cancer medications that are billed at 300 dollars a bottle...

How dare they? Did anyone check them for "fireproof vests"? Wonder what the NYPD PBA has to say about this? "Who was guarding the hen house while they were playing firemen?"
Sarcasm off! Job well done men.

A local story that's hitting close to home for me: File under "The System Worked!"
On Monday, April 30, Ron Immel, EMT/Supervisor for Good Fellowship Ambulance Club, responded to a medical call, along with Chester County Hospital Medic 91.
While packaging the patient, Ron went to secure Medic 91's car when someone heard him collapse. Immediately, personnel found him unconscious behind 55's ambulance. He was found to be in V-Fib arrest,...CPR was initiated and he was defibrillated at the scene back into a sinus rhythm, ultimately regaining full consciousness upon arrival at CCH!
As of today, after a battery of tests, the cause was unknown and he is scheduled to be discharged tomorrow.
I can't attest to Ron's overall state of health, but as emergency providers, we work long hours, endure rapid escalations of stress, and probably don't eat the healthiest of meals when on-duty.
Personally, this time last year, I was 270 lbs, had tremendous back pain (in part due to advancing arthritis) and lost so much sleep I was nodding off at work. I'm now down to 225 and I have a few more to go (so says my doc ), but its not all about me - we all need to look after ourselves. We all won't have Ron's good fortune to be surrounded by a lot of competent care providers.
    Stay safe, brothers (and sisters)!
