I'm not really looking to have a discussion but if one insues, so be it. I have noticed in a few threads recently that some people aren't able to take criticism or jest very well anymore. I would like to take this opportunity to bring back an acronym that was used by many on this site. Q.T.I.P. Quit taking it personal. Guess what kids, this is the emergency service. You are posting on a forum that is dedicated to us. If you say something out of line or just plain stupid, you will get your various parts busted. That's just how it works. Thanks for your time guys and gals. As always, stay safe.

It's s*** like this that makes all of us look bad. This is also why I hate parades. Having a melt down because two members didn't march? Grow the hell up! Can anyone tell me, is there any positive aspects to being a volunteer firefighter anymore? Because all I see is bull s*** and drama.

I happened to be upstate this past week when I was able to catch this second alarm in Rochester on Wednesday. It was a 3 story, wood frame abandoned residential structure. Operations were defensive from the beginning. You can note in two of the photos that the parapet wall collapsed onto an adjoining (vacant) building. The building was demolished after the FD picked up by the end of the day due to instability.

I'm still confused. How is 585 the a*hole? Especially if you agree with the majority of what he says? You do realize he is a chief officer in his department, right? So, again....please elaborate.

This is not about any type of agenda who has more "likes" or members
(10 years online and over 7,000 members) but that is not the point.
I set this up as a convenience to our members to give Incident Alerts on Facebook a try.
Feel free to join the group and post if you like.
Yes, we might be a little delayed in starting this up but we are and we shall see

I'd rather read EMTBravo then the wires. I don't like reading all the routine calls and calls that turn out to be nothing, and I hate all the misspellings that are posted on those pages. They also love to pat themselves on the back about how many likes they have. I hope EMTBravo can maintain the same quality on FB that is in the IA section, I'd hate to see it turn out like the others.

As far as I know bee-line does not monitor emergency dispatch (I would imagine if they did they would know when there is an accident on their route and wouldn't ask me what was happening). This particular driver she is POSSIBLY speaking of MAY be a person who runs a Facebook page.

E186 and E188 were both tandem axle engine with 2000 gallon booster and E188 did have a rear, manually operated dump valve retro'd after delivery. However, Tanker 16 did not replace E186 as a one for one replacement.
Engine 186 served multiple purposes but was a first due engine from Granite Springs Fire House. Amongst other things, it had a full compliment of engine company equiptment. It was no different than the other Oren's purchased in the same era (E180, E185) other than the fact it had a 2000 gal booster tank.
Tanker 16 was purchased to serve as a tanker to compliment the existing fleet. If memory serves me correctly it has a 3000 gallon tank, three dump valves capable of being operated from the cab and a 1500 gallon GPM pump. The higher capacity pump was installed so it could take the place of a pumper if needed. Other equiptment it was fitted when put in service was 2 SCBA's, indian tanks, portable pond and possiblly a portable pump. When put in service it was stationed at Lincolndale Fire House.
At the time the tanker delivered the intention was to (in time) put engines with 1000 gallon booster tanks in Granite Springs and Amawalk. About the same time E186 was remove from front line serve and E185 (with the smaller 1000 gallon booster tank) was put in Granite Springs. The reason for this was 1) the tanker as an additionally water source and 2) not long before there was a large water main installed, adding an addtional and reliable water source to the Granite Springs area.

    Description: Residential fire alarm
    E23 E21 L13 TL11 2302 dispatched to Automatic fire alarm.
E23 L13 10/84 nothing showing. During size up E23 transmits the 10/75 for heavy smoke in the home through the windows L13 forcing entry and E 23 stretching in.
E22 E25 added to the box
E23 reports basement fire stretching down the stairs
    All hands working
Just another routine residential fire alarm? I think not. Homeowner was not home at the time to meet first arriving companies and a total 360 performed by first due companies shows why there is no such call as routine. Nice stop by all NRFD units working Thanksgiving morning. This homeowner certainly has something to be thankful for this year!!

Stellaris has not been dissolved, it is still in place as a shared services entity, rather than a parent corporation, for the four Stellaris hospitals. Westchester EMS remains one of those shared services. The four hospitals have committed to continue utilizing WEMS as their transport provider and transfer call center. That commitment will continue whether WEMS is part of Stellaris, or if it becomes a stand-alone company in the future.
WEMS is working with Somers FD on their transition to 60-Control and will continue to serve the FD and citizens of the Town of Somers as long as needed. WEMS will then move our dispatch operations to our headquarters in Mt. Kisco.

"Dominate FB"? Our goal isn't to "dominate" or to compete. We really don't care about how many "likes" or, as you put it, "fans" we have, as "likes" are not a real metric on it's own. Our goal is to provide the best possible site and content for our members, and always be striving to find new ways to better the site. Some work, some don't, but some you don't know until you try.

Until an inter-municipal agreement is executed and all the procedures established it is just a rumor. They may be negotiating/discussing but until they reach an agreement all this does is get people fired up for nothing.

How many times have we heard rumors like this? County DPS is taking over DES, departments are merging, etc.etc.etc.
