I didn't realize we could say anything on here that criticized a fire department, especially if the word volunteer is in the original post.....
At least that Tower Ladder wasn't needed to respond to an emergency in the 40 plus hours it was decorated (and presumably out of service)
"Sorry Mr. Taxpayer, that $1,000,000 fire truck you bought for us wasn't available to come save your family because, well, it was Christmas time and we needed to make a kick-ass video with it. How were we to know there would actually be a fire in our district. There wasn't one last week. Can't those dispatchers schedule these calls a little better?

Take the time to watch this video. Each member including the officer learned that safety must come first.
It's not just a slogan to say "Be Safe" you must practice Safety all the time.

  14. EmsFirePolice liked a post in a topic by SteveOFD in Soda now classified as Hazardous Material?
While driving on I287 this week I took this picture of something which I had never seen before. A soda truck displaying a DOT HazMat placard.

One of the reasons I can think of for this scenario is that the truck was carrying more than 1,001 pounds of possibly carbon dioxide gas for a soda dispenser at a bar or restaurant.
While speaking about hazmat, here is a useful link regarding DOT placard requirements http://www.phmsa.dot...ng/Chart 14.pdf.
Another informative DOT link is at http://www.phe.gov/e...es/default.aspx.
And lastly here is the link for the online 2012 Emergency Response Guide http://phmsa.dot.gov...mat/ERG2012.pdf.

    Our (Wassaic's) B.R.A.T has been taken around to area FD's that are interested in this multi use type vehicle and anyone that has seen it operating at a scene have been impressed with it's performance, it surely has exceeded our expectation of the vehicle, as a result several departments have either selected Firematic to construct a new vehicle for them or are close to signing a contract to have one built. Here are some photos (shared with permission of David Horton) of the Rhinecliff B.R.A.T which is near completion with a expected delivery of next week. Here are some the features of the vehicle;

Ho-ho-ho! Look what Santa delivered this week!
Engines 6-1 and 6-2 are twin Spartan/Marion pumpers with 2000gpm QMAX pumps, 500 gallon tank and 30 gal Class "A" foam.
The lettering and goldleaf will be completed "in the next few weeks" since some of the extra parts have not yet arrived.
The members were working on ENG6-1, so most of the pics are ENG6-2

Got a shot of NYSP H208, a 2012 Chevrolet Caprice, and it was black. Are NYSP cars going to be black now? I'd really hate to see that, as I really like that unique dark metallic blue they have.
    (Sorry for the crappy shot)

And here is a photo of one of their K9 Tahoe's for comparison:

"Rolling meat-outs"... I hear the Soylet Corporation backs that idea, too.
  24. EmsFirePolice liked a post in a topic by wraftery in FDNY firefighter says he's been ostracized - because he became a vegetarian
It looks like a "Chess Move." He's on the Lt list but needs a little extra to get the promotion. So he sues the city and the carnivores (that's a new FDNY Society) and if he is not promoted he goes before some clueles judge and yells "harrassment".
I almost guarantee he gets promoted and a cash settlement on top. Then the city will then have to spend $3.6 million to train the whole department on the nutritional value of veggies as ruled by the judge.
Judge Garufis then gets a hold of the case and orders "rolling meat-outs" citywide. Companies will be required to give up meat on certain days. OOPS... it wasn't Garufis, it was the Pope that ordered that one.

Ostracized cause he is a real loser, nothing to do with his dietary consumption.
