  2. It's NBC. Remember that awful show "Trauma" that was supposed to show how awesome EMS is? It was god awful and not even close to being accurate in any way. Therefore, I don't expect much from this show. By the way, didn't the Mayor of Chicago just privatize the ambulance service for the city? I believe a lot of Medics and EMT's were laid off or took jobs with the new private for profit company at substantial pay cuts. All the CFD ambulances are now decommissioned and sitting in a city yard. Funny how that never made the national news.
  3. Well, looks like the guy admits to it. I'm speechless. http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2012/01/09/news/metro/doc4f0b325a4180c238579975.txt http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2012/01/09/news/metro/doc4f0b325a4180c238579975.txt?viewmode=3
  4. It's a media feeding frenzy. They already have him convicted and plastered his face everywhere. So, even if these are false charges it will be very difficult for him to work again. It's a harsh reminder to us to remember to cover our asses. Ask for a LEO to ride in the back, call for a female crew (I've done both of these things with certain Pt's), and document document document. You never know what's going to come back and bite you in the a**. Now that this is all over the news there is a possibility of some less than honest people out there that see $$$ and may attempt to make accusations. That being said, I really hope that none of this is true. Stay safe and smart out there everyone.
  5. Condolences to his family and members of WFD. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured FF. Rest in peace Brother.
  6. Rest in peace Brother. Thoughts and prayers to his family and FDMV members.
  7. Wow. Just wow. The Mayor really wants to get rid of SFRD doesn't he? Privatization of the fire service at the expense of the taxpayers (financially and physically). How many SFRD members are going to be laid off when this "Joint Venture" takes effect? This is union busting plain and simple. And the taxpayers lives are on the line.

  10. Is someone going to have to die before anything is done about this? What if there were people hanging out of the windows or trapped inside when they arrived? This guy is a clown and should be removed from his position. I live in North Stamford and I most certainly don't feel safe with these guys "protecting" me. They should just be disbanded. A city the size of Stamford should have a fully staffed professional career department.
  11. http://rep-am.com/news/local/doc4bcee3f00878c284384782.txt Proposed budget cuts will close an Engine Co. and lay off 16 Firefighters.
  12. Excellent topic! I've picked up a few things and hope this is a decent contribution. One of my officers told me to keep up on tying knots. It's an easily forgettable skill and you don't want to be the guy fumbling around trying to tie a knot when it needs to get done immediately. I keep a 10' piece of rope with my gear and practice with gloves on and eyes closed.
  13. People need to get thicker skins. Are you going to run to the teacher and tattle whenever one of the other kids upsets you? Grow up and get over it!
  14. No surprise there.
  15. Thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Brother.
