  1. Congrats! I'm jealous (as usual)......but, what can ya do? Best of luck to ya!
  2. Kids jerking their arm up and down are looking for air horns, not sirens. Gets kind of frustrating watching their reactions after being denied for about the eighth rig in a row. They're too young and immature to understand the concept of points and being judged. Around here, usually the only company(ies) that make noise are the hosts. Everybody else is "supposed" to behave, but sometimes somebody will let it slip a little here and there. Not like "certain" places in NJ where you see every truck going "Code 3", Chief's cars weaving back and forth, tillers coming down the street sideways, etc. What a zoo!
  3. Sparrowbush (Orange Co.) has a couple of monster Autocars like that. They've had quite a few problems with one of them, though. Wallington, NJ also has a cab-over rescue like the one pictured above. Sharp lookin' rig.
  4. I have seen photos of the new "heavy duty" version of the Volvo VN chassis in use as a pumper-tanker, and as was mentioned, there's a couple of rescues with the cab-over model, and a number of Autocar chassis floating around. They're out there, just not as common as the Mack, International, Freightliner, etc. that normally get used as fire apparatus.
  5. Very good sale, but of course, it has also sparked the latest wave of "Chicken Little-itis", and since there's no higher-ups left who interact with us collectors anymore, it's gettin' ugly over there.
  6. Works for me. Thanks for the info.
  7. Yeah, I have a Mac. No worries about viruses here. Have heard that they supposedly are immune to spyware as well, but don't know if that's fact or urban myth. They do have their ups and downs, though....depending on what you're trying to do.
  8. Somebody PLEASE get me a winning lottery ticket so I can buy that Mack! (if it ain't already spoken for, that is).
  9. I heard a while back that they were getting an E-One Bronto. Was there a change of plans, or was that just a rumor?
  10. "The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarkana......" Well, it HAS been on AMC quite a few times lately.
  11. R.I.P. Mr. Furley.
  12. With all the mechanical issues plaguing the newer Seagrave rigs, I'm surprised they haven't come up with an Arrow XT engine for demo purposes yet. That'd be something to think about, too.
  13. From the number of Incident Alerts I've seen on here from the North Jersey area, I'd say there will be some decent slide shows this year, if nothing else. Can't wait.
  14. I like the new designs, and Elmsford is definitely sweet. Where'd all the samples go? There used to be "several"....now there's only two pages? Making room for this year's offerings, I guess? LOL!
  15. Hi, I'm Andy. Age depends on who you ask (don't ask.....LOL!). I live in the Battalion 1 area of Orange County. Mainly an apparatus photographer/buff, but I have been known to take in an actual job now and then. Always been into big trucks ever since I was a kid, so once the firefighting stepfather came into the picture, it was a natural that I'd take a liking to fire apparatus. Spend my summer weekends on the road, camera in tow. Any wetdowns, parades, or truck shows within a 2-hour drive, chances are, I'm there. Pretty much worn out North Jersey, so I signed up here hoping to get some info on Westchester and/or Long Island events. Once wetdown season's over, I'm usually busy watching wrestling, or collecting die-cast trucks.
  16. Sweet lookin' rigs! Best of luck with them.
  17. E-One also makes a mid-mount tower. I don't know, for a fact, if it's available just as a stick or not. Ditto for Ferrara.
  18. How'd I miss that? Would like to have seen at least one of 'em. What part of the room was it in? Oh yeah, Syosset's rescue is hot, too. Can't wait for parade season. Hopefully some of these will get out and about.
  19. Looking very nice, indeed. Can't wait to see the finished product.
  20. I didn't even bother with the concessions. I learned my lesson about arena food a looooong time ago. Was awfully tempting to relieve the pizza dude of some of his duties, though. He looked kinda lost....LOL!!!! No great rigs?? You missed that sweet ALF tower? That thing was HOT! (Huntington Manor's, that is).
  21. The original "Smokey and the Bandit".
  22. The show wasn't as big as last year, nor did it have as many rigs on display. Last year, the Coliseum itself was also full of stuff, but this year, it was full of kids playing soccer. Highlight, for me, was Huntington Manor's awesome new ALF tower ladder. Tarrytown has itself some competition!
  23. Man oh man, I can think of a place or two where that will come in handy quite often!
  24. Why are they having to replace TL-71 already? Did something happen to it?
  25. Well, I'd LOVE to be able to hit LA for Code 3 day (or whatever they're gonna call it this year) with a couple of trips to Baltimore in between, but given my nearly non-existent funds, it'll probably just be limited to the usual collection of North Jersey wetdowns and maybe a parade or two in Long Island.
