why stand by fd units from ossining isnt that a little far away?maybe armonk or west harrison white plains ?or maybe just maybe the dispatcher is a member of said FD? thats what it is?you have fairview hartsdale sleepyhollow tarrytown just a few miles away.favoritism with few dispatchers i noticed.i know all about mutual aid very well and i agree with you to a point.but there is favoritism.the grand scheme should get what you need there sooner then later kinda like a fast team? thats my experience tells me its not a parade.get what you need ASAP.i dont think the dispatchers should have that kind of power to show favoritism to the dept they belong to.6 people lost their lives and others injured and this is what's bothering you? Get over it. Stop with the favoritism nonsense and the boo-hoo why didn't they call X, Y or Z.
Resources were called as needed during what I could only imagine to be a chaotic and overwhelming scene.

Not with that dumpster hanging off the end
Hahahaha 👍😂
Wait Alex, I thought you could be a Squad simply because it sounds cool, silly me lol.If I recall correctly, a "Squad Company" in Westchester has specific requirements regarding special operations training (HAZMAT, Rescue, etc.) Capt. Nechis can probably provide more details.
This topic came up not to long ago. You can call a piece of equipment whatever you'd like. But it better damn well carry the necessary equipment and more importantly carry members who are trained to the required level.
I know that you know this, I was just being my sarcastic self.

As M'Ave said, this can be a very scary incident. Quick thinking by the crew, glad they are all ok.
Driving for the DPW, I've had a few "pucker factor" instances myself, it sucks to say the least.

As a firefighter, it is never easy to see someone's home experience a fire. It hits that much harder when it's the home of a brother fireman.
Pat and his wife Danielle are great people who give so much back to their community.
Both families are military families who have fought for our Country.
I know that it's hard to donate especially around the holidays, but if you can give anything to help these families, please do so.

1) This was the first I heard of this and am curious to hear more.
2) If they realized they have shortcomings in terms of membership and are pro-actively trying to fix that, I applaud them.
3) Personally, I feel that hiring "drivers" is just plain wrong. That just creates smoke and mirrors and unsafe operating practices IMO.
Think it's time to hire career staff? Do it the right way.
Better yet, look into consolidation/splitting costs for career staffing. Crazy I know, silly me.

Goshen (Orange County) -
Al Turi, chair of the board of commissioners for the Goshen Fire District, said that with membership dwindling from 195 firefighters to about 100, the district may have to hire drivers to get trucks and equipment to fires.

Are you insinuating that career FFs only work with Vol FFs in Westchester? Or just the opposite?just in westchester county.
Either way, your response is vague and quite misleading.
As much as I read guys crying that the career guys bash the Vollies, it seems as though there are plenty of pot stirrers on the volunteer side as well.
I am unfortunately not surprised....
