While I see your point and somewhat agree, I had questioned the same thing when they said it was a 1 story s/f/d. Looking at these pictures and remembering the volume of fire the Chief and the first police officers on the scene reported I think the chief made that decision in case they had to go to an exterior attack. The truck would then be able to be on top of the fire. It didn't sound like it went that far due to a strong defensive attack, shoving the 2 1/2 in the front door and holding it to the back of the structure. Also looking at an Ariel photo of this house it really wasn't far off the road. Good job East Fishkill...and of course Bill with the great pictures. (Bill I'll be the first in line for the book)

jbgfd314 - I was on that call and if the trooper thought it was safe to keep the road open, he should be immediately drug tested and his head examined for rabies because the road was not maintained to the ability that would safely allow free flowing traffic to move past the incident. At the time of the incident, only a car width was clear essentially making it a one lane road. Had the road not have been covered with snow and ice we could have allowed one lane to stay open but not last this morning. Your guys did a good job this morning. JETPHOTO

I listened to this incident and it seemed just like another unfortunate fatality due to an MVA in a snowstorm. A few hours later when I learned it was Rich I could not believe it, not Rich, I had worked a few jobs with him over the years and always was great to work with. My girlfriend was in just as much shock as she got to talk to him as he picked up a few things from the store just before the end of his shift. Rich, you were a true hero always there when needed. Your many talents earned you much respect. You stopped to help a stranger like you have done many times, you will be remembered as a true hero. Jim & Melisa

Good work to all including the photographer

In my opinion, wearing the PPE all the time allows your mind to think about it all the time: hence practice makes perfect. Besides you still have ambulances tow trucks etc. moving around the scene so you never know when a close call may occur.

Nice Bill, great video too. I see the one Rombout FF almost became a inj FF on the slick road. I also noted a lot of other (non Rombout) personal with none or limited turnout on makes good shots look bad. At least the vest photograph nice
