  1. Seth, as a matter of act, Santa Ana, CA runs a Tillered Rescue. I don't have photos, but I'm sure you can track them down. Hope this helps. -Joe DA BUFF
  2. Hey there Kingsixx. I understand your point and it is well taken. I do want to ask, do you think that there is some Dodge Pride going on here? Not that I'm suggesting Dodge Pride is a bad thing; I just know that the old Dodge Polaras could hit 120 easily and I wonder if there's some of that going on. Like I said, definitely not a bad thing, but I doubt any Westchester PD's (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) ran Intrepids, not in the same way they woulda run a Polara or a Plymouth Fury (or even a St. Regis.) Thanks. -Joe DA BUFF, who was astonished to find out the other day that NYPD ran Ford LTD Highway RMP's!
  3. Great site indeed! Now I know where I can get my last Kisco Firehouse photo! And I like the Bee. Nice one. Well done lads. See you at the Coach Diner! -Joe DA BUFF
  4. I'm not wholly versed in all of this/I haven't followed this, but, I wanted to ask this. Why haven't any Westchester F.D.'s considered a Live-In Program? Live-In Programs are a success and work in busy departments (case in point, Kentland 33 in Maryland). Just my two cents. -Joe DA BUFF
  5. Hey Seth. Great photos, I'm glad someone finally shot those beautiful CTDOT Refits. I wondered why the M-7's were in New Haven when I saw them there Sunday Night. I had seen some MNRR M-7's at Hunterspoint Avenue, if you're wondering. Didn't shoot 'em, bad angle/lighting. Good luck shooting more of the MNRR Fleet, I highly endorse shooting the old Croton North Station or the area around Wakefield/Mt. Vernon West. -Joe DA BUFF
  6. That is an interesting Car. I do wonder what it's used for/who had the money for a couple thousand dollars to do the custom job. BTW, I recognize the curvature of the windows as that of a Taurus. The Crown Vic though is from '95-'97, based on the taillights. Where in Hartsdale does that car pop up, I'd like to see it myself. You should send that photo to stationwagon.com, if they still exist. -Joe DA BUFF, 100 Posts and Counting!
  7. Thanks a million WCR20! -Joe
  8. Slightly off topic, but New Haven (CT) has a great light show at Lighthouse Park, and Jones Beach has an outstanding one on the West End. I highly recommend both. -Joe DA BUFF
  9. Seth- I'd seen those on LFD171's site before myself! Perhaps you should blame me.... Ah well. -Joe DA BUFF
  10. I seen that thing before myself. She is a beauty. Wonder what them Italian Staties use her for....
  11. I apologize if perhaps this wasn't clear before, but EMS was seemingly ordered by the Security Supervisor to act. I hope this clarifies things; I'm sorry, the whole thing seemed fishy to me. And the patient did not want to go to the hospital. Perhaps I should come back with more details, and the like. Thank you though for your fortrightness and willingness to talk to me about it. -Joe DA BUFF
  12. I hope to remember a love for Dodge Durangos on this board! So here are a few shots of Thiells 26-2. I also have photos of Stony Point's new Tahoe. But later...
  13. Oy Seth. I'm sorry to hear that. I think you should write a letter to the editor. If you want someone to read it/someone with a semi-inside track on journalism, I'll be happy to. -Joe DA BUFF, who sometimes likes to write, including about his Firefighting.
  14. Hey Board. Thanks. To clarify: 1. The Campus Security is not Police, they are private security (through Summit, with University hired supervisors.). I am uncertain as to the extent of their powers; some guards carry handcuffs, many of the supervisors are ex-cops 2. I wasn't a first hand witness to this, I only heard about it through a Letter to the Editor in the School Paper. 3. So far as I know, a Campus Security Supervisor called for EMS and the person was not displaying any symptons of intoxication. (The person had consumed two beers, according to their letter. The person was also of legal age, to consume alcohol.l) 4. The person did vocally refuse to be transported; the Security Supervisor said that she would be kicked out of Fordham if she refused. 5. Apparently, a physician saw the person at the hospital and determined that there was nothing wrong with her. I have one more question: What is papered? Papered as in the officers have documentation attesting to the fact that the patient is a danger to themselves? If so, I doubt that paperwork exists. I hope this helps clarify the situation. Thank you all for your thoughtful responses and for all your help. -Joe DA BUFF

  16. I apologize for opening a seeming pandora's box, it's just a subject that I find curious/want to hear the views from this board's EMS veterans. ABout a year ago, some college EMT's (I'll omit specifics to protect the innocent), apparently at the direction of campus security, took a patient who was not intoxicated and with no other symptoms against their will from a legitimate university function to a local hospital against their will. My question is: Is this ethical/legal? I usually keep my politics separate from my interest in the Fire Service, but I can't help but wonder if these EMT's severely got it wrong and possibly violated this patient's 4th Amendment rights and or, in the words of Judge Benjamin Cardozo, "Every human being of adult years and sound mind has a right to determine what shall be done with his own body; and a surgeon who performs an operation without his patient's consent commits an assault." Did the EMT's commit assault? I've batted the issue around with all the physicians I know (I come from a family of physicians, my Dad is, so is my Uncle, and I know many others), and they have supported EMS' actions. What are your thoughts? And I apologize for raising a contentious issue, it has just bothered me since it happened. Thanks. -Joe DA BUFF
  17. As always Eli, you've done a cracker-jack outstanding job! Cheers! -Joe DA BUFF
  18. God Bless Tom Lorusso and his family. He must have been the man to do all that he did. May the Good Lord Hold You in the Palm of His Hand. -Joe DA BUFF
  19. So, I know that she's currently cross-staffed by Ladder 11, sorry, Tower Ladder 11, she's a 1992 Pierce Dash that looks a little like the E-One/Saulsburys in FDNY. Anybody know anything else, like, predecessors, how long Rescue 4 has been designated Rescue 4, etc. Or any photos! Thanks! -Joe DA BUFF!
  20. Hey JBE. They're still running the Spirit of Oklahoma. The '96 rig had major suspension problems, it was ready to fall apart! Speaking of Rescue 4, they also ran the 1939 Ward LaFrance and had an accident with that one in the 50's; crashed into 136's old rig and the Ward apparently burst into flames. We'll see if Rescue 1's old rig goes to R-4. If it were up to me, R-1's would be the spare and R-4 would get the Spirit of Oklahoma. -Joe DA BUFF
  21. Nice one Seth. I'd be interested about that one too. You send it to Firenews? -Joe DA BUFF
  22. Speaking of Connecticut, that's all Governor Rell and the Governor Rowland who did all that. Rowland vetoed bills that woulda rehabbed the system. I've noticed that the New Haven Line is ridiculously overcrowded (going back and forth). I didn't realize the fleet problems were so bad. Wow. The wheel shops must be pretty busy. There are also yards in North White Plains and Southeast, right???
  23. Nice photos Seth! I think Tower Ladder 3 is indeed a beauty. I ain't seen her in person, but, from what I heard and (seen) she is great. Speaking of the Pipes and Drums, they run a beautiful vintage Maxim Pumper. If you'd like, I"ll ship you the photos (and her twin rig, owned by the Fire Chief in Charlton as an antique), they are one of only a few Maxims with catwalks. Let me know if you're interested. (I think that rig used to be the Dive Unit) When are you comin' to Hartford? If you're doin' it over the holiday, stop by and say ALOHA! -Joe DA BUFF
  24. And a very happy Turkey Day to everyone out there. If you're workin', stay safe . Anybody having turducken? Happy Thanksgiving all, esp. to Chris, Eli and Seth, my buddies in Bravo-Land. -Joe DA BUFF
  25. So far as I know, Hastings is still around, so is Port Chester. Rockland (slightly off topic) also runs quite a number of tillers, two in Nyack (See also: http://www.rocklandfires.com/smfrc2/index....opic,255.0.html) 10-98 (Empire H&L, Nyack) has run Seagrave TDAs since the 30's, and quints since the 50's. 10-99 (Chelsea H&L, Nyack) ran a pair of ALFs dating back to 1955 before their current 1999 Pierce Quantum TDA. Beautiful rigs, no? Suffern H&L runs 19-99, which is a 1973 Seagrave TDA (but looks like a Sutphen from its headlights). Prior to that they ran a 1937 Seagrave 75' TDA. And then there's Rescue H&L, Haverstraw, with 4-99, a beautiful 1969 Pirsch 100'. They also still have their 1937 75' Pirsch as an antique! Hope this helps! -Joe DA BUFF
