Hey Ed, We ought to do a study to find out how many of those accidents involved 4x4 SUVs operated by the idiots who think that because they're driving four wheel drive vehicles, they're invincible. DAMN FOOLS!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100%, HFD! I'm looking forward to late spring/early summer!

Croton Falls FD has purchased several pieces over the years, and never had a problem. Our thoughts and prayers go to the Palmer Family, the Staff of Gowans Knight, as well as the Watertown FD. May he rest in peace.

iI agree, that was an EXCELLENT call by that IC! I would MUCH rather get my chops busted about having too much than be sued for what would happen without it.

This is the link to 60 Control's web page that I believe has the info you're looking for. http://www.westchesterny.com/emergserv/Reports/UHFplan.pdf

First, find the walker you like (if anybody could ever like one of those things), then you, or whoever does the work may need to sand it before priming it, and yes Rust Oleum does have a spray can primer. Painting and striping her is only the first step. Then, ya GOTTA ste the thing up with some LED lights and of course it'll need a radio, etc. as well.

There are some Labor Laws and also some NYS Education Laws that come into play here. You can take FF1 at 16 because some of our 16 YO members have already taken it I used to know a lot more when I was Chief, but that was several years ago.

DPL = Digital Private Line, the more modern version of TS which stands for Tone Squelch. They are used to keep the receivers quiet unless a unit in the same group talks to them. The older tone squelcu uses a sub-audible tone that you don't hear but the radio does, and the digital uses a digital code to open the receiver, whereas CSQ or carrier squelch hears everybody. Hope this helps, any more questions feel free to PM me.
-
Yes you will, Chris, cause the receiver is in the big box that you don't have. The thing you have is just the "control head".

I like that!!!!!!!

You sure can, Mike. I hear more on the Yorktown link (453.5625 MHz) than I ever did on 46.26.

We do Driver Lisence and Background checks through the State Police. I suppose some jerks can still slip through the cracks, but everyone we have elected into membership has been good, for the most part. I really can't think of any real bad apples we had. and if one of our members gets in trouble for certain problems, they are releived of duty until the matter is adjudicated.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the employer(in case of Volly Fds the Board of Commissioners or other governing body) is required to provide Hep B vaccinations to any (active) members who want them. You, as a member are not required to get them, but IMHO you would be a damn fool not to accept them. At least that's how it went when we got them a few years ago.

Well another Daytona 500 is history! Quite a race, quite a finish Kevin Harvick nosed out Mark Martin who had led the pack for a good number of laps. Looks like there were a few decent crashes throughout, but the best was in the last lap just before the end.

So would I, He was in the lead for so long, he deserved to win. Also I thought that the commercials were a damn site better and funnier that those during the Super Bowl.

Being an Ex-Chief of a department who relies heavily upon the use of tankers, I can relate to your situation in those areas. Great move, Chief! Nice to see a Chief make a move like this!

Yup and the same for the left turn where the same jerk makes that left turn from the right shoulder (of a 2 lane road).
