  1. Sounds like a good boss... but if he's so cool with Hooters, I can't imagine what the poor sap got suspended for?
  2. Our new unmarked cars will have red and blue LED's in the turn signals, made by Whelen. I need to find a pair for my CV.
  3. I stopped by FAS yesterday and saw a bunch of Danbury Ford Crown Victorias, so I guess they are splitting up the fleet. Also saw Fairfield PD and Westerley RI PD in black and whites. Bridgeport FD expedition too. I need to keep my camera with me.
  4. There will be a fundraiser for the son of Hartford Police Officer Mark Fowler on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Sweet Jane's 88 Pratt Street Hartford, CT. starting at 6:00 p.m. Jake Fowler was born in May of 2006, with spinal bifida. Since then Jake has overcome many obstacles. Unfortunately he was disgnosed with a liver disease, and will need a liver transplant. The family is in need of money to cover their rising bills. I know this is not close but just wanted to spread the word in case anyone was interested.
  5. It's unfortunate but most MOS finerals get f***ed up by the bosses. It's their inability to let common sense prevail, and they cannot resist the opportunity to make themselves shine. When things go well, it's unnoticed, when it gets f***ed, it's the pawns like us who notice. It's stories like this that allow us all to blow off a little stress, while honoring one of our own. As far as the Commish, F*** him and his staff for failing to notify other agencies. Back in the day the HWY boss would have ignored the information and took the a** chewing.
  6. Here are some of the Dodges, mostly Bridgeport and Danbury before lights and markings.
  7. Here are someof the Danbury and Bridgeport Dodges in the install shop in Werst Haven.
  8. This is the "Police, Law Enforcment, & ESU" thread? The sad truth is all of these turds will never get what they deserve. Cowards hiding behind tinted windows ambushing two unsuspecting cops for what, because they were in a stolen car? Good thing nobody else got hurt tracking them down.
  9. I was coming home from Jersey last week when the bridge was closed, and the GWB was gridlock for almost an hour. That's even with me sneaking right up to the toll plaza. I think that the Tappen Zee needs to be rethought. Add rails for the trains to service west of the Hudson and make more lanes. Then add services similar to the PAPD, who roll on DV's and crashes. As far as enforcement we do alot of bridges and tunnels, as do the TBTA officers. Stops are usually done off the bridge to avoid traffic problems.

  12. There are all kinds of people carrying badges / shields especially in the area we all work in. Bus drivers, train conductors, sanitation employees, etc.... Many moons ago I worked for a private ambulance service and we had badges as part of the regular uniform. I can't tell you how many times people thought I was a cop, and the BS that came with it. Now as a police officer I keep my ID and shield in a small case and everything else in my wallet, even my Metrocard, which has a photo ID on the back, just in case. I wish that law enforcement would get into the future and permit better uniforms, like the fire and EMS services. Keep the badges on the dress jackets for ceremonies.
  13. I try to limit PBA cards to immediate family, and write my cell phone number on each one. That way I feel the officer can call me to verify anything. This works very well. Even if I retired I would expect the same professional.
  14. I leave all my handguns in my locker at work. I used to keep one in my vehicle then my truck got towed by a NYC Sheriff for outstanding parking tags. There is no need for that anxiety, and the possibility of it falling into the wrong hands. Immediately after 9/11 I would carry a 12 guage and .223 rifle in my truck, because if the s*** hit the fan I knew I could end it rather quickly, but the Department doesn't authorize either as an off duty weapon. I always carry my shield and ID, because I enjoy driving fast. As far as plain clothes, I sometimes carry in plain view in a soft uniform, khaki 511 pants and blue polo with PD lofo on chest. Pistol and shield on right side, cuffs and magazine on the left.
  15. Nice selection, but $$$$. I use the gas and drive down to Brothers, and save. Plus Brothers will alter and sew on stuff while you wait, unlike New England who will mail it to you in a few weeks. Olinville also has a nice selection and prices.
  16. The NJ Sports Authority, or whatever their name could make an area with grills and tables. They would charge like they do to park I'm sure. Then again NJ Transit would like ot get some bang for their buck too. I'm waiting for the Yankee Stadium Station.
  17. als, I agree. I've worked in EMS since the 70's and know how this can be construed as comic relief, although in poor taste. They lost their jobs and certainly learned their lessons, to punish them further, damn there are a bunch of heartless kids out there.
  18. I have yet to see one close up, but I hear they are Federal's attempt to keep their NYPD contract. Then again I heard this from a Whelen rep. I looks like they took out the rotators and put in LED's. They have them in the VISTA on some vans and VECTORS on some HWY units. I'm glad we use the Whelen liberty on our new cruisers.
  19. I haven't been out there since 2001, but they had stuff I never thought any Police Department had, like the ERV which they call an emergency rescue vehicle, I call it a tank. I used to see some of these things up at Camp Smith too. As long as "Popeye" Kelly is in charge of the NYPD they will invest in stuff like this instead of paying the cops any real money. Too bad the MTA doesn't invest in anything like this.
  20. I've used it during felony stops, but you need to turn down the volume to not sound like a damn subway announcement. It also works well telling the walking wounded which way to to go after a train fire/accident. "Please walk to the right, no the other right... my right... the other right.. oh crap".
  21. GRRRRR I guess I will have to think before I kick the cat off the bed next time LOL
  22. BROTHERS and OLINVILLE are by far the best prices. Depends on what you are looking for though. BROTHERS has mostly PD stuff, and limited FDNY or FD EMS stuff. UNIFORMS BY PARK, in Brooklyn too has good prices and sews on patches and alterations while you wait, like Brothers. I used to go to Paul's but found their pants and shirts fell apart quicker. Anyone remember the FINEST and BRAVEST in the Bronx? Roz had a huge selection of PD and FD stuff and the best prices anywhere.
  23. Some "bosses" get a hard on doing this kind of stuff. I do my best to extend a professional courtesy to all public safety personnel.
  24. I know that our next bunch of cars will have red and blue on the rear around the amber arrows, same low profile whelen bar, only with clear lenses. On the front we're using red and white with one blue forward on the right. Only difference will be our CT cars that will have half red and hlaf blue on the front. Also all will have red/blue Whelen Talons on rear deck. and TIR3 Red/Blue in the grill.
