I think that now we are the only Fire Department in New York State WITHOUT a RESCUE. I guess that I come from the old school of Firefighting.
Now all our rigs are busting at the seams in every compartment with all of our equipment that we have to carry. Go figure!!

Bugs Bunny - the perfect employee. Never absent. Never late. Never changes the script. Doesn't have an agent. Never asks for a percent of the profit. Doesn't ask to have his relatives on the payroll

For a person that grew up in the Village of Tuckahoe for all of my life, and now at the ripe old age of 53, I can tell you that the "TUCKHAOE QUARRY" goes way beyond Fisher Ave and Marbledale Rd. There was and still is a vein of marble that runs from Leewood Dr. off the Bronx River Pkwy south to Eton Pl. in Eastchester. which would be the first quarry. The second quarry was on Marbledale Rd between Lincoln Ave & Fisher Ave, which would be the second one. The next quarry was a block south on Marbledale Rd. from Glen Rd to just south of Jackson Ave in Tuckahoe. The first two quarries now do have water in them but the third one was filled in with dirt some time in the early 60's or so. That land was at one time a dirt parking lot and now all it is is a flat piece of land with a very historic past. The vein of stone ran for about a mile and a half to two miles or so. A large amount of our Marble was used in Washington DC, St Patricks Cathedral, in NYC, & Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown to name a few.

Just wondering, since this was a Working Fire with 4 Engines, Ladder 16, and Tower Ladder 17, was the Eastchester Fire Dept. SAFETY OFFICER on the scene when this incident occurred? Also, I hope that the TWO Brother Firefighters who were injured at this call are doing OK tonight. Great stop Gr # 4 and Capt Lou.

True story... several years ago I went bear hunting with Demps121, Get the roof, yfd910, and Fud27. We drove all the way to Acadia National Park in Maine. When we drove into the entrance to the park there was a sign that said "BEAR LEFT <"; so we went home.Which part of Maine were you going Bear Hunting?

Sounds like a great event, but next time please TRY to give us a little more notice. There is a Golf outing tomorrow, Monday May 19, and going away on Tuesday just won't cut it.
P.S. Is Charlie Rankin allowed to play?

The orange in the last picture was probably a flake of snow or ice on my camera lens. It was sleeting at the time of this incident, and while these photo's were taking.
It was also a two family house with two gas meters.

All of our prayers are with the Grogan Family at this time. This house was the home of retired FF Joe Grogan and the family home of Chief Mike Grogan, Lt Dan Grogan, and Lt. Kevin Grogan ALL of the Eastchester Fire Dept. Lets all say a special prayer for them in this time of need. Thinking of all of you.

Hey Guy's
Thank's for all your good words.
I know EACH & EVERYONE ou US would have done the SAME thing that I did this morning.
We are all in it together through thick & thin.
Every day we all help out each other one way or another.
All of our training that we do sure does help.
Keep safe to all & come home alive.
