  1. If police are refusing to let you see the occupant of the vehicle, a potential patient, make sure you get their names and what agency they were from and write it all down on your PCR. Especially note that you didn't have any contact, something along the lines of "arrived on location at xyz, police informed the only occupant from the vehicle is in our custody. Police officer Bob and Police officer Joe from abc police department refused access to occupant."
  2. I saw several of the programmable signs throughout the area saying that 9 and 9A would be closed in areas of Ossining and Peekskill, but nothing saying why it was closed. This seems to be horrible planning by whoever is sponsoring this race by not bringing in all local agencies in the areas affected by these closures. Hopefully nothing happens during the times these roads are closed, but if it does..they better be pretty damn quick to open up the roads and hold the race or be responsible if something serious happens.
  3. That's disheartening that a hospital based EMS agency is doing that to a local EMS agency. I know they say it's not competition to a degree and that they're just keeping up with calls, but come on its obvious you want the money from the patients; especially if "Your going to Piedmont Hospital." They obviously just want the money and the fact that they are "racing" to the scene puts not only the crews at risk but the public as its uneccesary. If they have a contract with the county I'd be curious to see what that contract says and whether or not they're abiding by it. It sounds like the county needs to get involved at some point and say enough is enough, if one company calls the other for assistance thats fine, but if the other agency can cover their call so be it.
  4. Something tells me its more politics and positive publicity them giving it to local groups like that. Obviously the whole amount would be better given to local emergency agencies whether fire/ems/police or local governments; but one wonders how and where politics get involved.
  5. RescueStuff in Peekskill, New England Sportswear in White Plains on Fulton St, Buckshollow Emergency Supply in Mahopac basically right off the Taconic, there's also a place in the Bronx that if I remember I will share. I would see where your department goes though, most departments have a specific uniform store they go to that usually has all of the specifics for that department ie. type of pants, shirt, jacket etc.
  6. Anyone? I'll entertain offers, but would really more like to trade them.
  7. I have two visor lights I'm looking to sell or trade. It is a Whelen Strobe Flatlighter red/red. I had blue lenses for it when I used it but sold those with another light. The cord was cut but it does have a plug and light has been tested and works. Second is a knock off LED visor light, blue/white. Has on/off/pattern select on the front, and on/off on either side. I'd like $45 for the Whelen, $30 for the LED, or trade for a 911EP LS12 or Whelen dual Talon. PM me on here or email me at efdny2003@yahoo.com if interested. Pictures attached below.
  8. I carry two radios, one village radio and one county fireground radio. I carry the fireground radio in my turnout coat radio pocket since I don't use that one as often; and I carry the village radio in the radio holster to the left side. Since I use the village radio more its in the holster so I can take it to EMS calls etc. If I have to put my turnout coat on the radio goes on under the coat and I run the mic through before I close it up. It took a couple trials to find what was most comfortable and whats less likely to get snagged on anything.
  9. I have two EMS jump bags I'm looking to get rid of. I recently upgraded so have no need for these. First is a regular trauma jump bag, has movable/removable dividers inside the main compartment, as well as loops on the inside of the main pouch for various equipment. Bag also has two decent size compartments on either side. I'd like to get $45 for this bag. Second bag is an oxygen bag; this bag has one main compartment with straps to hold oxygen tank and extra padded bottom. There are also several loops inside the main compartment which I used to hold oral and nasal airways. This bag also has two larger pockets one in the front and one in the back which also has loops; and that's where I used to keep my adult/pediatric airway stuff ie. non-rebreathers and nasal cannulas. There is also one smaller pocket on the side which is where I kept my BVM's. The tank in the oxygen bag is not included, for sale is just the bag. I'd like to get $75 for this bag. I'm up for reasonable offers, and willing to make a package deal if you would like to buy both bags. Email me at efdny2003@yahoo.com or PM me on here if interested. Items can be shipped or picked up depending on location.
  10. Not sure where to post this, and hopefully it doesn't get taken down. Me and a couple guys from my company are gathering patches to put up in our fire house. So far our collection is small as the way I was getting them(driving to fire houses) became impossible with work. I'm asking that anyone who is able to get a patch from their department, be it fire or EMS and would not mind donating them to this collection please contact me, either on here or email- efdny2003@yahoo.com. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.
  11. This morning I went to log onto Yahoo to check my email, and this was one of the articles that was on the homepage. This is beyond disgusting, all I can say is read this article. People wonder why our country has little to no money anymore, its because of people like this. People who really need government help, single parents, households making $45,000 combined can't get help; but people who drive Mercedes, have the newest cellphones and several hundred dollar purses do. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/seattle-welfare-recipient-lives-million-dollar-home-161252749.html
  12. I have a dual head LED dash/deck light for sale. The colors are blue/blue with clear lenses. The light was originally a deck light designed for hardwire so I had to go out and buy a cigarette plug for it. The plug has a switch to turn on/off, to change patterns on the light however you will have to tap the yellow wire to a power source, as again this was originally designed for hardwire. Pictures will be posted up today. I'm asking $65 for the light OBO. PM me on here, or email me at efdny2003@yahoo.com if interested.
  13. All lights have been sold.
  14. I still have this light for sale, and I also have another dual head blue/blue LED dash light from Whacker Technologies. This is the link to the lights page as it is currently up in my car: http://www.whackerusa.com/fury-ox-led-dash-light.htm The light retails for $175, I'm asking around $125 obo for the light as is, all original. A nice feature about this light is there are four small lights on the back of the light which show the flash pattern, is has an on/off and pattern selection switch on the plug. If interested in either of these lights pm me on here or email me.
  15. Light is still for sale, willing to take any offers at this time. Also I'm looking for a light along the lines of the 911EP fourhead LED light. If anyone has one they are willing to sell or trade, please let me know; looking for all blue.
  16. Sorry it took so long to post them, but here are some photos of the dual head LED light I have for sale.
  17. I would definitely say that looks like a tornado forming and crossing the thruway. You can tell somethings coming just based on how dark it starts getting and you have a sudden pick up of wind and rain. Interesting video, wonder what the National Weather Service is going to say about this and if it caused any damage. Would definitely freak me out driving up the thruway and all of a sudden seeing that. Looks like a few people drove through it too.
  18. Photo 4 would be the old Live Oak Engine Co #1 on North Lawn in Elmsford, right next to the new building. The original Live Oak sign is actually still up behind the SOS sign.
  19. Not sure if this is the appropriate forum to start this, and if not ask a moderator to move it appropriately. I'm looking for scanner antennas for my car, that mount to the trunk lip. I'm not sure if there are any stores around here or if there's a website that may sell them. I am trying to stay away from anything big and bulky or that obvious, and I know I could order a windshield mount from radio shack but would rather something smaller. If anyone knows where I could go for something like that, it would be greatly appreciated.
  20. I have a question hopefully someone on here can help with; I have two big binders full of old baseball cards majority of them from my uncles so going back some 30+ years. They have been kept in plastic sleeves and most are in pretty good condition considering age. I'm trying to see if there's anyplace around here I can go to, to get the cards appraised for lack of better words. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
  21. A majority of the cards are from the mid-late 70's, with a few mid-late 80's and some early 90's. They've been sitting under my bed for a while I take them out to make sure they're clean, but never really got into them. I'd have to look through to see if there's a Mcgwire card, there may be.
  22. May not be a forecast of a blizzard, but the forecast does call for snow/wintry mix Tuesday and Wednesday. Saying we are in for another storm is true how bad it is or how much we get, no one can tell until after it is done.
  23. Given the amount of snow we've gotten, which has obviously affected I'll say the tri-state area at least; is there any chance of state or federal aid? Obviously it's nothing as bad as a massive earthquake or tornado, but the snow is draining or has drained a lot of the areas snow budgets. Is there any way towns/villages/cities could request some sort of aid? As far as where to put the snow, find any parks you can and give the kids lots of hills to go sledding on.
  24. In Elmsford all the rigs including ambulances are equipped with spot chains, which we will use with just a couple inches. If the forecast is for a significant amount of snow we have a separate set of chains for one engine, one ladder, and one ambulance.
  25. Any fire, vehicle structure or other(i.e. dumpsters etc) the Class A foam line is stretched.Being on that line in structure fires and such it definitely makes a world of difference. It has helped us save structures from becoming fully involved and it helps blanket everything so there's no chance of a re-kindle of any kind. Definitely a valuable tool Class A foam.
