Oh BOY here it goes

My ladder would be a seagrave 100 foot tiller truck

I would have two Seagrave Marauder pumper that has a 1250gpm/750 gal tank both trucks having roll up side compartment

my third pumper would be a 1988 Mack CF Custom Class A Pumper

1250gpm/500 gal tank that has be refeurbed with an enclosed cab and roll up side doors

My resuce would be a seagrave cab and chassis of a Marauder that has a till front the back would be a 20 foot walk thur rescue body form Marion

the utility would be a SVI Air and Light unit on a international chassis

my three cheif cars are very simple 1 subarban 1 yukon and one ford extened cab pick up

Hey, remember in the cartoon GI Joe when COBRA had that huge helicopter type flying fortress? Build one of those and outfit with huge water tanks. Then you just fly over any structure fire and have it out in a few seconds with the pull of a lever. I'd also have a dive team standing by for rescue of the boot guys on the ground who get soaked. Hey, I can dream can't I?

1 E-one ladder, don't care what type, largest generator I can get, 2000 GPM pump 100 gal. foam tank w/ around the pump proportioner, pre piped hydraulic lines for extrication equip. Full compliment of rope rescue equip.

1 E-ONe rescue, 500 gpm pump, 300 gal tank just in case. All associated equipment, heavy on hazmat.

4 Wheeled Coach Ambulances either Van's or type III's. Outfitted, with LP-12's, vents, and a 1 & 1 (1 medic, 1 emt) tandem.

2 Chevy Tahoe flycars for ALS backup.

And if I really had my way, a personnel staffing of 46 per shift.

My department certainly would be all Seagrave, and if not I'd at least exclude garbage built by Pierce or E-One. (Misery-One?)

3 Seagrave engines - 1000 gpm (you don't need the pump capacity of Hoover Dam - 2000 gpm and more to run at full capacity requires too many people doing the job of 2-4 people); 1000 gallon tanks, rescue style bodies for storage space of heavier equipment below, lighter equipment above, cabinets for first aid kits, defibs and drinking water in cab. Cabs would be 8-person size with 6 seats eliminating 2 seats for aforementioned cabinetry; light towers mounted to roofs of engines...obeying my basic rule of lighting every night time scene regardless of nature of call. No one works in the dark if they don't have to.

2 Seagrave tillers with standard truck company gear plus extrication and confined space gear - just because a call may be underground doesn't mean trucks and truckies are useless.

Utility would likely be a Chevy Suburban for transporting extra manpower, would go to the schools during Fire Prevention Week, bring FF's back and forth to training.

Simple and effective fire department in my opinion.

Just to add on:

Who cares what apparatus. Give me 4-6 guys of my choice, any apparatus and an assignment. Its the guys on the rig that are the importance. I don't care if its a truck from the 70's or built yesterday.
