Hey, remember in the cartoon GI Joe when COBRA had that huge helicopter type flying fortress? Build one of those and outfit with huge water tanks. Then you just fly over any structure fire and have it out in a few seconds with the pull of a lever. I'd also have a dive team standing by for rescue of the boot guys on the ground who get soaked. Hey, I can dream can't I?

OK FIRST OFF WE WOULD NEED A TRUEEEEEEEEE TRUCKKKKKKKK

NO HOSES OR PUMPS. THEY JUST TAKE UP COMPARTMENT SPACE FOR THINGS THAT ARE REALLLY NEEDED LIKE A COUPLE OF CANS. A COUPLE DRY CHEMS SOME PPV FANS A RABITT TOOL. SOME HOOKS AND GROUND LADDERS. 14' 16' 24' 35' ATTICK LADDER AN A-FRAME LETS NOT FORGET TO THROUGH IN A POMPIER LADDER HELL YEAHH

AS WELL AS STOKES,LIFE SAFETY ROPE AND UTILITY ROPE

OFFICERS BAG WITH ASSORTMENT OF TOOLS AND SPRINKLER HEADS AS WELL AS CHOCKS PLUS TONS OF OTHER TRUE TRUCKIE EQUIPMENT AND ELECTRICAL AS WELL AS UTILITY EQUIP.

THEN LETS SEE

WE'D HAVE TO HAVE A COUPLE OF WAGONS FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SCARED TO GO INTO A ROOM WITH OUT 500 GALS OF WATER NURSED FROM THE PLUG WITH 5" THEY'LL HAVE TO GET 1250 GPM OR THEY MIGHT GET SCARED. 2 1/2 GALS WITH A CAN IS FINE FOR ROOM AND CONTENTS. COME ON

THEN OF COURSE WE'LL NEED A HEAVY RESCUE FOR THOSE WRECKS,LIGHTING, AND EXTRA CYLINDERS.

AS WELL AS SOMEWHERE FOR THE SQUIDMEN CAN CHANGE

IF WE FEEL NICE GOT TO HAVE A VEH FOR THE CHIEF. IT'S ONLY FAIR

AND DONN'T FORGET ABOUT SMOKEY THE DALMATIOON. WHATS A TRUE HOUSE WITHOUT A TRUE DOG AND A POLE IN THE MIDDLE

THATS LIKE NOT WHEREING A LEATHER HELMET

PRIDE AND TRADTION

BECAUSE THE BIG DAWG SAYS SO =D>

Ummm, not to start, (he he) but exactly how much more wasted space is needed compared to a pump?

And 3 and 2 plus a rescue for all fires? You are talking high rise right?

My department certainly would be all Seagrave, and if not I'd at least exclude garbage built by Pierce or E-One. (Misery-One?)

3 Seagrave engines - 1000 gpm (you don't need the pump capacity of Hoover Dam - 2000 gpm and more to run at full capacity requires too many people doing the job of 2-4 people); 1000 gallon tanks, rescue style bodies for storage space of heavier equipment below, lighter equipment above, cabinets for first aid kits, defibs and drinking water in cab. Cabs would be 8-person size with 6 seats eliminating 2 seats for aforementioned cabinetry; light towers mounted to roofs of engines...obeying my basic rule of lighting every night time scene regardless of nature of call. No one works in the dark if they don't have to.

2 Seagrave tillers with standard truck company gear plus extrication and confined space gear - just because a call may be underground doesn't mean trucks and truckies are useless.

Utility would likely be a Chevy Suburban for transporting extra manpower, would go to the schools during Fire Prevention Week, bring FF's back and forth to training.

Simple and effective fire department in my opinion.

Just to add on:

Who cares what apparatus. Give me 4-6 guys of my choice, any apparatus and an assignment. Its the guys on the rig that are the importance. I don't care if its a truck from the 70's or built yesterday.
