CDF rig kitbash

12 posts in this topic

I'm finishing up this Type-25 urban interface pumper from the California Dept. of Forestry. It's 1:64 scale, and I used one of those awful Road Champs cabs and dressed it up a bit. Everything else is scratch built. I'll post more pics when I slap the decals on.

WOW! Steve, that is AWESOME! You have quite a talent!

For those not familiar with Stepjam's work, he's also kitbashed, amongst other things, Yonkers Rescue 1 and Ladder 73.

Check it out his creations and art at:

Thanks for sharing with us here at EMTBravo! Can't wait for more photos!

It looks great!

What did you use to build the body?

The body is scratch built. I used a chopped Road Champs body for the frame, then covered it with .01 ABS sheet plastic.

I've got a stupid question. Do you absolutely need steady hands to do this hobby?

Because I don't have the best fine motor skills, but have always wanted to build Bedford Hills Tower Ladder 57 in 1/32.

I'm curious as to how you actually MAKE the bodies... I've wanted to get into this hobby but I have no idea how to begin.

Just finished. No unit numbers, since CDF isn't buying the Type 25 (this) after all.

I think they have three, which will be in reserve.
