DALLAS - A police motorcycle officer died after a crash while escorting Hillary Rodham Clinton's motorcade to a campaign rally.

Senior Corporal Victor Lozada Tirado died after apparently crashing into a concrete barrier along a viaduct near downtown Dallas, said Lt. Vernon Hale, a police spokesman.

Rest in peace.

Third public notice of a Wheel Man being in a motorcade accident in a month or so. President Bush had one go down, Hillary's, and the one on the NJ/NY line for the funeral procession.

RIP

May the officer rest in peace. At least Hill did the right thing and stopped her campaign if even for a moment. MFC2257 has got it right, third or fourth time this has happened recently, I think the need for motorcycle escorts needs to be seriously reevauluated, for everyone safety!!

I'm sure we all have opinions both about the use of escorts for campaigning politicians and the politicians themselves but let's focus on the point of this thread: the tragic and senseless line of duty death of a police officer.

A couple of posts popped up with political sentiments/statements that almost immediately caused a reaction and generated responses. That's not what we're all about. All those posts have been deleted and the original posts edited (removing the political sentiment) so we can remain focused on the tragedy and convey our condolences to the DPD and larger law enforcement community. As has previously been discussed, this forum is not for politics - there are plenty of sites for that.

RIP, Senior Corporal Victor Lozada Tirado!

Security contingencies for "High-Profile" events and people, always involve the local jurisdiction having authority. There is a whole lot more going on than just escorting them from point A to point B.

It is extremely tragic for us all when there is an accident and we lose someone who is only "doing their job"

We may or may not like politicians or politics, but the fact of the matter is that they are here and are never going to go away.

My sincerest condolences to the family and colleagues of Senior Corporal Victor Lozada Tirado.

It is sad when good community PR goes awry. Thats what many local and area departments do when they are included in the motorcades/escorts. It is sad it ended as such!!

RIP!
