FASNY's Fire Museum

[Future Fireman 4]

Well, was in NY this past week, and I made a stop at FASNY's Impressive Fire Musuem. Here's some shots from the musuem. Due to apparatus placement, the shots often have a corner or so cut off, due to difficulties fitting the whole thing in.

First off: An old Ward LaFrance 'utility' from Somers.

Second, a 1972 Ford C/Maxim Pumper

Third, a 1946 American LaFrance JOX

I'll put up more as time progresses.

A side shot of a BEAUTIFUL 1957 MACK B. I really wish I could've gotten a better shot of it. The area around the B was cramped.

How about a 1966 Mack C model? I really don't get why both of these Macks were placed in bad spots for photos. THEY'RE MACKS FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!

1947. Was one of three of that model ever built and the last to survive. It was sent to the museum in 2001.

No, the current R20 did not replace this rig. The current R20 was put in service in 2005. The former R20 was used as a parade/muster and funeral piece from at least the late '80s on (although I do remember it being called from time to time for it's lighting).

i did take pics as well, but my digital camera f'd up an i had to get a throw away. i especially loved that wooden ladder truck. also did you see the first "fire truck" in NYS? it's more of a wooden box with wheels, but still the first.

was the badge collection from mass still there?the only city they did not have was,I think was paxton ma.from what I was told paxton did not a have badge.

The WHOLE patch collection from across the nation was there. However, there was no patch collection just from MA. As for Paxton, they're in our Fire District (Mutual Aid Network, not our jurisdiction) and courtesy of the District's website here's their patch:

hey, can't find the pic, but the fasny site has a photo of it. click on the link, it's the 4th photo down. the caption says it's the oldest fire engine in nys. when i was there i was told it was the first by a museum volunteer. either way it's a 277 year old fire engine...how often do you see that!!
