Rombout (Dutchess) - Current Apparatus

18 posts in this topic

I've been busy working on getting our new website together so today I took advantage of the nice weather. (Of course it was overcast and starting to drizzle a little as I took most of the photos) Here is all of our apparatus except one of the Chiefs cars. Photos by me, thanks to Paul T. for helping me shuffle these around.

Nice laytout - they look almost like baseball cards

I love the tower ladder...

I didnt realize the rescue was a 90...is it due to be replaced anytime soon? Maybe a twin to Hughsonville's?!

Twin to Hughsonville's in Cadillac Creme...ewww! Nah, kidding! I like the Rombout apparatus! However, why do they have 4 engines? Is their response area that big?

New Rescue is in the works with a committee, it don't believe it will be as large as "Huge"sonvilles (j/k). Response District for RFD is 14.3 miles, with two stations on each side of town, Route 9 divides the district areas. 6214 (1986 Pierce) was replaced with 6211 (2006 Sutphen). It never got put on the market and has been serving as a spare/reserve/driver training.

Without getting too much into response details:

Station 1 contains:

  • 6211
    • 1500gpm/1000 gallons
    • First due for structure fires
    • First due for Commercial Alarms (station 1 area)
  • 6212
    • 2000gpm/750 gallons
    • Base Pumper 2nd due
    • First due for Car Fires and Auto accidents (station 1 area)
  • 6214
    • 1500gpm/1000 gallons
    • Reserve

Station 2

  • 6213
    • 2000gpm/1000 gallons
    • First Due for structure fires in station 2 area
    • First Due Commercial Alarms in Station 2 area
    • First Due for Car Fires and Auto Accidents (station 2 area)

Question about your numbering system out in Dutchess. I'm assuming its set up the first two numbers are the department, the second two are the unit type and number?

HazMat trailer is currently out of station 1, at one time it was housed at station 2 and pulled by 62-62 if needed. Boat is at station 1, but is not in service, it was recently purchased and is a new endeavor for this company so training is needed.

As noted in the original post, I still need to get a picture of the second chief's car which looks almost exactly like the first one.

Great job on the pictures. I just have one question. Why doesnt the head chief have the newest vehicle? It seems as they keep thier vehicle and dont pass theirs down as new ones are purchased.
