This wall was thrown into Route 22 when there was a firefighter reported to be trapped under it. That report turned out to be false and everone was accounted for.

Aaron thanks for sharing, great stuff, the turnouts, the smoking of cigarettes, pipes and everything else, classic classic stuff.

My dad was one of the reported Firefighters trapped that day, man did he have some stories. They were inside and they could hear the building starting to fail, the creaks and cracking and they bailed and just in time.

All I remember from that day was I had a baseball game at the elementary school and all the smoke and sounds were unreal.

For those that know the area the area we call the four corners of Amenia, this fire is the current location of the Four Brothers Rest.

One other thing, mind if I copy these to our website?

I always love pictures from the past. It serves as a reminder as to how we got to where we are today. Was water supply an issue? it looks like thay had to use a Bucket Brigade for a while

Dan I have been hearing about that fire for 35 years

From what i've been told Dover was on the fire escape when the building collasped and Dovers ambulance was called to the scene and arrived in minutes from dispatch (or whatever they did in 1974)
