East Fishkill Fire Old Fishkill Farms 5/20/2009

28 posts in this topic

I'm sure there will be many more to come but here's just a couple from the pocket camera before the battery went dead. This was about a 1/2 hour into it.

Just a little of what I saw 6 portable pools with 3 engines feeding 3 ladder trucks (3 5" lines), and a whole lot of tankers (East Fishkill's tankers 2 , Hughsonville , Pawling , Beekman , Chelesa , North Highlands , Lake Carmel , Kent and Patterson. May have been even more

A couple Quick shots. Difficult fire. Good job by all.

I do especially like the shot of Nephew 39-1....with a police presence, giving the interview! B)

Anyone have a list of all departments on scene and on stand by? I know New Hamburg had a rig stationed a village of fishkill and I could see village of wappingers ladder was on scene in the video on pojonews. Which means there were some depts. from pretty far away at this. I could see the smoke while I was leaving work from 55 near Arlington Headquarters and again from the galleria mall.

I had one friend see the plume from the Mid-Hudson Bridge, and reports of people calling the firehouse to ask where the fire was... seeing the plume form the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge.

Here are some Photo's that I took.............. I only went through a portion of what I shot....... I have been been busy processing a Wedding I shot and I have to finish that before I spend a lot of time on these...... Hopefully over the weekend I will finish going through what I shot and I will post some of the better ones if there's interest..... ........... In the mean time, here are a few.......

This is where the incident occurred..... Fishkill Farms which reportedly is owned by Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau...... In the background is the tanker shuttle operation which used six porta-tanks........

541918303_TeSJM-XL.jpg

Walking up....... I parked a ways from the scene.....

541918567_jc5Pe-XL.jpg

The shot up the driveway...... Notice the lines are on each side of the of the road to maintain access....

541918844_PRaA3-XL.jpg

A little closer.......

A wide shot........

541912744_Em3en-XL.jpg

There were numerous violent explosions during the incident.....

541917942_NGraw-XL.jpg

The view from the back.......

541914560_9Q4fz-XL.jpg

It got dark and ugly at the rear of the structure rather quick..... Here Rombout 62-45 pulls away with it's outriggers up but out to escape the rapidly deteriorating conditions....

Looking for a new place to park as things are really rock'n......

Lots of Fire (And smoke)

541917946_6gLXB-XL.jpg

Rombout 62-45 in its new position in the front of the structure.... It was much brighter and cooler out front.....

541918021_2RZgg-XL.jpg

A wide shot of the front....... If you look closely you can see the propane tanks that landed outside of the building after they exploded.....

541916409_83GZ8-XL.jpg

A tired Rombout crew.....

541915869_n3aD9-XL.jpg

The building burned fast and furious.......

That's all for me for now....... I just did these up quickly......... Bill

Nice shots Photo and others who posted. Question for EFFD Command, were there any issues with communications with inter county units? How many FAST teams were there? Who handled accountability? Thanks

What was the run own of ladder companies?

EFFD, PECO, Rombout..... Anyone else?

I thought I saw foam in one pic - would it have been feasable to use a rig from Stewart or IBM EF for high volume foam applications?

NOT Monday Morning QB'ing - just thinking over scenarios in my head....

Thanks

Our 43-11 relocated to East Fishkill Station 1 and we kept a crew at our station because our 3000 gallon tanker was one of two available in lower Dutchess County!!
