FDNY 3 Truck

If I am correct, this company is know as "Recon truck." Does anyone know why this is?

Hey!!! That's a blue light on the grill of that truck. Isn't that against the law????

I dont believe so, The Yonkers Smeals has some blue lights on there light bars.

Where dose it say that is is againest the law to have blue in the NYC

NYS VTL has reserved the blue light exclussively for volunteer firefighters. This thread has been discussed at leangth elswhere on EMT Bravo. It is also in the VTL that vehicles authorized to use red/white lights cannot have a blue light/bulb/lens/cover/etc Those agencies that use blue lights on emergency vehicles are in violation of the VTL

Just a guess on the recon name the late Capt. Paddy Brown killed on Sept 11th was Capt. of L-3 and was a Vietnam Veteran Marine. Maybe it came from that something to do with Recon.
