Stockton Fire Truck Gets Sponsorship

Food 4 Less Covers Shortfall Of Funds For Rescue Rig

POSTED: 3:43 pm PST December 16, 2009

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Stockton's firefighters now have a tool that will save lives in fires, building collapses, or any disaster -- and on the back of the truck is a Food 4 Less logo.

Can we get sponsors for firefighters? Instead of the FF's name on the turnouts: exxon, Chase or even Avalon (oh wait, they dont pay for fire protection in NR).

Thats not a bad little logo for the FD to live with to get $200,000 for.

I don't think that there's an ethical problem here at all. There has been advertising on public transit vehicles, ytain station platforms and bus shelters for years.

Since a fire apparatus is on the road a limited amount of time, the advertising impact is small. The ad on the apparatus is probably more of a donation rather than a true advertising campaign.

I would be more concerned about someone driving in a car and actually reading the ad and forgetting that they are behind an emergency vehicle that may make sudden stops.
