7 firefighters to be re-hired in White Plains

7 posts in this topic

WHITE PLAINS — The Common Council voted unanimously this morning to accept a $1.9 million federal grant that will alow the city to reinstate seven firefighters who were laid off in May.

The seven could return to work as early as March 18.

"I'm ecstatic, honestly," said laid-off Firefighter John Rostowski, who was given a pink slip in May after spending three months at the fire academy and five on the job. "It's truly an amazing feeling."

Were those the only FF's laid-off, or are there additional members who weren't picked back up yet?

Per the article there were 2 others laid off where one was hired by Larchmont and another was reinstated back to White Plains following a retirement.
