Sleepy Hollow VAC "Goes Paid"

13 posts in this topic

Doing the math, the paid EMT isn't funded as a 24/7 full-time position.

It's more like 12 hours a day, unless they're getting someone to work for $9.00 an hour.

In any event, it's a good thing for the residents that the Village realizes there's a need for this and they are addressing it.

It is unfortunate that many towns and volunteer agencies have needed to make this move. In today's economy most of these volunteers can no longer dedicate time as in years past. The prompt treatment of the patient needs to be 1st priority.

The down side is that the person that needs to work more to survive and can't volunteer, is also the taxpayer that will need to dig deeper when the tax bill arrives.

Both have either day or night contracts with Empress, yet are still known as VAC's, or have Volunteer Ambulance Corps. plastered all over the outside.
